Breaks and Lunch Periods. 1. All employees working five (5) hours or more per day shall be entitled to an UNPAID LUNCH PERIOD of not less than one half (1/2) hour. Lunch periods shall be granted, when practicable, at approximately the midpoint of the work shift.

Employees who work at least 6.5 hours in a day at a Board location shall be permitted to take no more than two five-minute breaks in the a.m. and two five-minute breaks in the p.m. or one ten-minute break in the a.m. and one ten-minute break in the p.m. Breaks must be scheduled subject to operational needs, as determined by the employee's Supervisor and may be denied or cut short by the employee's Supervisor, as dictated by operational needs. Breaks may not be used to extend a lunch period or to leave early at the end of the day.
Breaks and Lunch Periods. Employees working a forty (40) or forty- two (42) hour work week shall be entitled to a fifteen (15) minute break period at or near the midpoint of the first half of their shift and a fifteen (15) minute break period at or near the midpoint of the second half of their shift, except employees working twelve (12) hour shifts, who shall be entitled to a twenty (20) minute break period at or near the midpoint of the first half of their shift and a twenty (20) minute break period at or near the midpoint of the second half of their shift. (During such breaks, the employees must remain in radio contact and respond immediately to emergency calls, and at the end of the break to non-emergency calls). Employees working a forty (40) or forty-two (42) hour work week shall be entitled to a thirty (30) minute paid lunch period at or near the midpoint of their shift, except all twelve (12) hour employees shall be entitled to a forty (40) minute paid lunch period at or near the midpoint of their shift. The timing of such breaks and lunch period shall be arranged by the immediate supervisor of station personnel. All field personnel shall take their breaks and lunch periods as scheduled and approved by the Dispatcher. It is understood and agreed that the timing of the break and lunch period may vary depending on the nature of the work being performed by the employee at the time, it being recognized that under certain conditions it will be impossible for an employee to take a break period until the urgent aspect of an assignment has been completed.
Breaks and Lunch Periods. Breaks will be in accordance with the following schedule and shall be scheduled by the immediate supervisor. Break periods shall be taken without loss of pay at a location to be determined by the immediate supervisor. There shall be a fifteen minute break during the first half of each employee’s shift provided the employee’s scheduled workday exceeds four hours and there shall be a fifteen minute break during the second half of each employee’s shift provided the scheduled workday exceeds seven hours. The break period shall be taken as near as possible to the middle of the four (4) hour period. Any deviation from this schedule will require verbal authorization from a supervisor. No employee shall be required to work more than five hours without a meal period which shall be a minimum of an unpaid one-half hour.
