ASSIGNMENTS, TRANSFERS, AND VACANCIES. All assignments shall be made in accordance with the requirements of state law, state administrative code, and the Superintendent of Public Instruction regulations. Employees will be notified of their assignments for the ensuing school year at such time as the District is able to determine said assignment. A draft proposal of the staffing plan should be shared with staff by the principal no later than June 1. The District will reassign employees as necessary to meet unanticipated situations and/or emergencies. Employees reassigned will be notified in a timely manner by their supervisor or superintendent. Employees whose assignments are changed at administrative request after August 15, will be provided assistance as set forth under "Administrative Transfers" 3 and 4. For employees who desire a transfer or reassignment, the following procedures shall be followed:
1. Such request shall be made in writing at the time of a job posting.
2. Before April 15 of each academic year, the superintendent shall distribute to each employee a form by which employees may request transfer/reassignment to positions not currently open. Such form shall be designed for this purpose and approved by the Association president.

If an Administrator is interested in being considered for an assignment to an administrative position the Administrator may file a written notice of interest with the Superintendent. When making administrative assignments, including the filling of vacancies, the Superintendent shall consider the notices of interest on file. Should any JPSAA candidate not be selected as the administrator to fill the vacancy, they will be notified in writing as to the reasons thereof.

7.1 Assignments The Superintendent or the Superintendent’s designee shall, subject to approval of the Board, assign all teachers to the positions in which they are to serve.
ASSIGNMENTS, TRANSFERS, AND VACANCIES. Teachers may from time to time make written request to the Superintendent for consideration for new assignment or vacancies within the district. All copies of teachers’ requests for new assignments or to fill vacancies shall be deemed filed with the Board and shall be available for Board review and consideration. The Board shall retain the sole discretion to make assignments in accordance with the determination of the needs of the district. Teachers shall be given notice of tentative assignments within thirty (30) days of the beginning of the school year. If such assignment constitutes a change from the preceding year, a teacher subject to such change of assignment shall be permitted a conference with the Superintendent to discuss the change. If the teacher remains dissatisfied after the conference, the teacher shall be permitted to resign without penalty.

ASSIGNMENTS, TRANSFERS, AND VACANCIES. The Board has the authority and responsibility in the assignment and transfer of administrative personnel. Personnel shall be given written notice of their assignment with the issuance of their contract. Transfers and reassignments shall be made only after prior consultation with said personnel and written notification from the Superintendent. Personnel who object to such transfers and reassignments shall have the right to appeal through the grievance procedure. In the case of an involuntary transfer, the Board shall give due consideration to the principle of seniority when determining which of the administrators would be transferred. In the case of an involuntary transfer of a principal or administrator, he will maintain his salary at the time of the transfer.
ASSIGNMENTS, TRANSFERS, AND VACANCIES. 10.A. The District Superintendent shall continue to initiate and make public to all BOCES instructional personnel a list of known vacancies or new positions, including subject and location, which occur throughout the year with the BOCES organization. Specific notice will be given to the President of the Teachers' Association or his/her designated representative. Affected staff members will be apprised of proposed cuts in program as soon as feasible and will be notified immediately if such cuts become definite. A transfer, reassignment or special assignment may be requested by an employee and shall be given due consideration in accordance with Board Policy 6014, and regulations promulgated under that policy.
10.B. The parties agree that transfers and changes in assignments will only occur when necessary. It is not desirable nor intended that individuals will be transferred from their current assignment unless there is a need to do so.
10.C. Any individual who will have his/her assignment changed will be notified of such change no later than the last day of school in June of each school year. When situations after that date necessitate a change of assignment, the individual will be notified immediately of the need for an assignment change.
10.D. The BOCES agrees that in the event of a transfer and upon request of the employee, a meeting will be held with the District Superintendent, the employee and Association representative to discuss the reasons for the transfer.
10.E. Any individuals wishing a change in assignment shall notify their supervisor, in writing, by May 15th of each year. The request of the individuals will be honored to the extent possible.
10.F. In cases where a vacancy is to be filled at the outset of a semester, teachers within the BOCES who are certified in the vacancy area and are currently employed, will be given the opportunity to apply for such vacancies, provided that they apply within ten (10) calendar days after the posting. All internal applicants and their length of service will be given consideration for the position.
10.G. The same general principles and concepts will apply to summer school assignments.
