Basic Work Period. The basic work period for bargaining unit employees, with due allowance for authorized holidays and leaves of absence with pay, including but not limited to, paid compensatory time off, paid annual leave, paid sick leave, paid bereavement time, shall be one hundred and sixty (160) hours in a twenty-eight (28) consecutive day period.

Unless waived by the parties, the department will provide at least sixty 17 days’ notice prior to the onset of a new schedule. For purpose of 18 interpretation, ‘schedule’ shall be defined as a shift rotation lasting at 19 least one year. Upon onset of a schedule, the schedule will stay in 20 place one year or until a new schedule is implemented. 21 2. Prior to the implementation of a new schedule, the Police Chief or 22 his/her designee shall meet and confer with the union, and discuss the 23 basis for implementing a new schedule. 24 3. Management will ensure that an employee assigned to a schedule will 25 not be required to work more than nine (9) consecutive weekends. In 26 the event there is an individual hardship, deviation from the original 27 assigned schedule will be considered by Police Chief on a case by 28 case basis. 29 4. For all Operations personnel who are assigned to Patrol functions 30 within the Operations Bureau, whose primary function is to respond for 31 calls for service, any overlap day that is a component of a schedule 1 shall not occur on Sunday, Wednesday or Saturday. Basic Work Period. The basic work period for registered nurses, practical nurses, nurse’s aides, mental health workers and food service employees assigned to or working in the Department of Hospitals and the Department of Mental Health, and all employees in the BCI and Communications Division in the Sheriff’s Department, except for clerical personnel, and employees engaged in the engineering, maintenance and repair, inspection, pollution control and equipment operation and/or the direct supervision thereof in the Sewer District shall be eighty (80) hours in a fourteen (14) day period.
