Bereavement Time. 31.3.1 Regular full-time employees with one (1) or more years of service who are required to be absent from work because of death in their immediate family will be granted excused time off at the basic rate of pay for a reasonable period of time, not to exceed three (3) scheduled working days. Employees who can justify such need to the satisfaction of Management, such as for travel, will be eligible to receive up to two (2) additional days off from work; such time will be excused without pay, or, if available, the employee may elect to utilize Vacation or Holiday time.

Bereavement Time. 36.1 If a death occurs among members of an employee’s immediate family the employee will be excused from work to attend the funeral and make other necessary arrangements without loss of pay from the day of death until the day after the funeral, but not more than a total of five (5) working days for spouse, child, and parent or three (3) working days for all other immediate family members as described in paragraph 36.

Bereavement Time. 27.2.1 After 90 days from date of hire employees shall be granted excused time to be based on the circumstances in each case by reason of making arrangements for, or attending, a funeral in the immediate family. Compensation shall be at the basic hourly rate for normal scheduled work hours actually lost but shall not exceed three (3) basic days' pay. This shall be only applicable through a period starting with the day of death and including the day following interment. The employee shall select the day or days within this funeral period. The immediate family shall be considered as the employee’s father and mother (or equivalent thereof), fatherinlaw, motherinlaw, brother, sister, spouse or domestic partner, children, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchildren, grandparents and great grandparents. Immediate family shall also include the employee’s brotherinlaw, sisterinlaw, aunt and uncle provided however, that payment hereunder shall be applicable only for the day of the funeral.
Bereavement Time. In the event of a death in an employee’s immediate family, the employee will receive bereavement time with pay from the day of death until seven (7) days following the funeral, provided the period does not exceed five (5) working days for spouse, child and parent or three (3) working days for all other immediate family as follows: brother, sister, mother/father-in-law, sister/brother-in-law, daughter/son-in-law, grandparent, grandchild, step-parent, step-child, step-sister/brother, half- sister/brother and those others for whom the employee maintains insurance coverage under paragraph 202.
Bereavement Time. An employee who is regularly scheduled to work twelve-hour shifts who has completed thirty (30) days of continuous employment and who suffers a death in the family (as defined in Article 13.4 of this Agreement) will be granted time off not to exceed a maximum of three (3) scheduled workdays within the seven-day period following the date of death, with “scheduled workday” defined as the length of the employee’s normally scheduled shift (e.g., twelve (12) hours).
Bereavement Time. (a) In the case of death in the immediate family of an employee the Company will grant the employee up to a maximum of five (5) days' leave of absence with pay for spouse and children and a maximum of three (3) days' leave of absence with pay for parents, brothers, sisters, mother-in-law, father-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandparents, step-parents, brother-in-law, and sister-in-law. This provision shall apply if the employee attends the funeral or service or is required to take an active part in the estate arrangements of the deceased. The amount of leave to be granted under this section shall be based on the time needed by an employee to attend the funeral or take an active part in the estate arrangements. The Company may request evidence of attendance. The term "spouse" shall be defined in accordance with the Family Law Reform Act. (b) It is understood that bereavement leave is granted only where the employee is otherwise scheduled to be at work. Bereavement leave shall not be granted in conjunction with any other absence, including statutory holidays, weekends, maternity leave, jury duty leave, or other approved leave of absence. Where an employee receives notice of death prior to his scheduled vacation and is required to take bereavement leave during a scheduled vacation, he shall be entitled to have the number of vacation days missed as bereavement leave added to his scheduled vacation.

Bereavement Time. 15.01 Any employee will be allowed off with pay, any scheduled work shifts that occur within four (4) consecutive calendar days following the date of the death of a person in his or her immediate family. “Immediate Family” will mean Father, Mother, Father-in-law, Mother-in-law, Sister, Brother, Wife, Husband, Common-in-law Spouse, Son, Daughter, Step Son, Step Daughter, Brother-in-law, Sister-in-law, Grandmother, Grandfather and Grandchild. Identification of the relationship shall be disclosed to Dispatch upon requesting bereavement leave. Certification of relationship and death will be presented on request to the Fire Chief.
Bereavement Time. A day of bereavement shall constitute 12 hours only for those officers who work a 12-hour schedule.
Bereavement Time. A. At the time of the death of a member of an employee's immediate family, as defined below, the employee shall be granted leave of absence for the purpose of making funeral arrangements, attending the funeral, etc., for a period of time which is of duration appropriate to the circumstances presented (such as the out-of-town travel involved), and shall be paid for not to exceed three (3) of the employee's scheduled work-days in that period. However, an exception shall be made to include one (1) additional work-day if the burial requires travel in excess of five hundred (500) miles one way and to the extent that the affected employee cannot return in time to secure eight (8) hours of rest before the beginning of the scheduled work period. It is understood in this connection that the time so taken includes attending the funeral. "Immediate family" shall mean parent, spouse, child, or step- child, wherever they may have resided, or any other family member whose residence is the same household as the employee at the time of death. The employee shall be paid for not to exceed one (1) day for attendance at the funeral of a brother-in-law, sister-in-law, grand-parent, step-parent, grandchild, brother, sister, parent-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, uncle, or aunt. Additional time above the one (1) day limitation may be granted if the employee gives satisfactory reasons to Management for the additional time and with prior approval of the employee's supervisor. However under no conditions shall the time involved exceed three (3) days in total. The Board may require verification of the death and/or the relationship of the employee to the deceased, at its discretion, following the leave and before making payment for the bereavement time. The Board may withhold payment if the employee did not make prompt request for leave prior to taking the time off so that the employee's work could be covered during the absence.
