Communications Division. (a) Probationary Dispatcher to Third Class Dispatcher requires completion of one (1) year of service in the Communications Division and recommendation of the Fire Chief. (b) Third Class Dispatcher to Second Class Dispatcher requires completion of two (2) years service in the Communications Division.

Communications Division. Communications Technicians shall be granted eleven (11) additional working days as holidays with pay each calendar year in lieu of designated holidays.
Communications Division. 31:1 The Police Department for the City of Bristol shall have a division known as Communications, which will come under the direction of the designated Captain of Staff Services. 31:2 The Communications Division shall consist of one (1) Lieutenant who will maintain direct supervision of all personnel assigned as dispatchers. Indirect supervision of dispatch personnel will be the responsibility of the Shift Commander during his respective shift. 31:3 The City will have the responsibility for all training needed to maintain this division. Sworn police officers assigned to train non-police personnel for dispatch will be considered Field Training Officers and will be compensated as provided by Section 7:2 of this agreement. The Communications Lieutenant shall be compensated with 7.5% of his respective base pay only during any period of time while personally engaged in the initial training of a new employee during the CTO program. 31:4 The City reserves the right to assign on-duty qualified sworn officers to Communications for meal and coffee breaks, and partial shift relief of a duration less than 4 hours. The Department shall maintain a list of qualified sworn officers to fill these needs. 31:5 It is agreed by the parties that the Chief continues to reserve the right to make assignments to Communications under Section 6:5 of this agreement. Officers shall fall into regular overtime rotation within the Division.
Communications Division. The Communications Division bid shift period shall be for three (3), twenty-eight (28) day blocks of time. Dispatchers shall bid shifts within the bid period according to seniority from most senior to least senior. Any Dispatcher that fails to place a bid within the allotted time frame listed on the bid sheet shall forfeit their bid and will be placed last in the bid cycle. Communications Division a) One Communications Operator per shift will be allowed banked time off. b) If banked overtime is taken as paid time off, all Communications Operators staff must take full shifts, unless prior approval is obtained from the Fire Chief or their designate. c) The City will manage the system of call back shifts for all short-term sickness and injury. The rate of pay for these shifts will be the equivalent to time and half (1.5) the employee’s regular rate of pay to a maximum of time and a half (1.5) a 4th Year Communications Operator rate of pay. Under the direction of the Fire Chief or their designate, the LCO or on-duty Platoon Captain will fill this role for the Association. In the event of any error or omission, the remedy is for the affected employee to remain at the top of the list for the next opportunity. d) The City will manage the system of call back shifts for all long-term disability and WorkSafe sickness and injury and only when staffing levels are below roster level. The call back shifts will commence once a member commences long-term disability or WorkSafe sickness and injury. The rate of pay for these shifts will be the equivalent to time and a half (1.5) the employee’s regular rate of pay to a maximum of time and a half (1.5) a 4th Year Communications Operator rate of pay. Under the direction of the Fire Chief or their designate, the LCO or on-duty Platoon Captain will fill this role for the Association if required for staffing levels. Communications Division a) Casual Communications Operators are eligible to post into full time permanent or temporary Communications Operator vacancies. b) When a Communications Operator vacancy occurs in the dispatch center, the senior qualified Casual Communications Operator will be offered the vacancy. a. All subsequent postings for Communications Operators in the dispatch center will be posted as per the Collective Agreement. c) All Lead Communications Operator vacancies will follow the posting process as per the Collective Agreement.

Communications Division. 1. Workday - The normal workday for the Communications Division shall be ten hours. 2. Workweek - A normal scheduled workweek shall consist of four consecutive days and total 40 hours; however, the City shall not be required to pay the overtime rate of pay (time and one-half) for these MOS until such MOS has worked 40 work hours. a. The workweek will begin on a Monday at 00:00 hours and end seven consecutive 24-hour periods later. b. However, for weekend night shifts the workweek will begin on Monday at 06:00 hours and end seven consecutive 24-hour periods later. 3. Work Shifts - Normal work shifts may include day, swing, and graveyard shifts, and shall be on a permanent basis subject to shift bids as provided herein. 4. Pay Period: The pay period for these MOS shall be two consecutive workweeks, or 14 days.

Communications Division. Classified Firefighters of the Communications Divisions assigned to the HEC building working as CSO’s, Communications Captains, Communications Senior Captains, and Communications Chiefs shall work a forty-two (42) hour workweek consisting of twenty- four (24) hour shifts. Day shift shall begin at 06:00 and end at 06:00 the next day. The Fire Chief may develop a program for the deployment of communications division personnel to perform duties in furtherance of fire suppression and emergency response, including but not limited to, on-scene assistance to any dispatched call involving the prevention, control, or extinguishment of fires or response to emergency situations where life, property, or the environment is at risk. Other Firefighters of the Communications Division, including administrative staff, may be assigned to other forty (40) hour workweek schedules, such as four (4) ten (10) hour days, or five (5) eight (8) hour days.
