Bilingual Premium. The appointing authority may require a qualified employee to perform bilingual duties in positions which have been identified and designated as requiring such bilingual skills. In order to ensure an adequate level of bilingual proficiency, the Director, Department of Human Resources may require periodic evaluation of incumbents receiving bilingual premium.
Bilingual Premium. All employees who translate or interpret as part of their work shall have their positions designated as "bilingual." A "designated bilingual position" is a position designated by the department which requires translating to and from a foreign language including sign language for the hearing impaired and Braille for the visually impaired.
Bilingual Premium. When it has been determined that an employee's use of bilingual language skills or specialized communications skills are essential and critical for the successful performance of the functions of a County department, the employee shall receive an additional fifty dollars ($50.00) per pay period worked, calculated on an hourly basis or portion thereof. Authorized time off of less than four consecutive weeks shall not affect the calculation of bi-lingual pay (approved vacation exceeding four weeks shall be excluded). The Director of Human Resources shall formulate policies and procedures for administering the provisions of this section, which will require the written justification by the appointing authority, verification of the employee's language or communication skill ability and procedures for review of continued need on no less than an annual basis. Extra help shall not be eligible to receive the bilingual pay premium.

A “designated bilingual position” is a position designated by the department which requires translating to and from a foreign language including sign language for the hearing impaired and Braille for the visually impaired.

Bilingual Premium. Bilingual pay, in the amount of thirty-five dollars ($35) bi-weekly, shall be paid to members who have been certified by the Department of Human Resources as having proficiency in Spanish, Cantonese, Mandarin, Tagalog, sign language for the hearing impaired and Braille for the visually impaired. Members certified by the Department of Human Resources as having proficiency in other languages shall, upon the approval of the appointing officer, receive this bilingual premium.
Bilingual Premium. Employees who have been selected by the Company to provide bilingual services shall receive a bilingual premium of fifty-eight cents ($.58) per hour. Employees who have been selected by the Company to provide bilingual direct patient care in a language other than English and pass the assessment will receive one dollar ($1.00) per hour.
Bilingual Premium. Bilingual paraeducators will receive a premium of sixty cents ($.60) per hour. Employees hired after July 1, 2003 who are required to have bilingual skills (English plus another language required for the position) must pass a language assessment offered by the District. Under no circumstances will bilingual paraeducators be required to perform written translations of teacher letters or other documents. All written translations are to be performed through the District’s translators. Employees performing as a translator will be paid at the translator rate outside their regular work day.
Bilingual Premium. When a Department Head designates a position within the Bargaining Unit which requires bilingual skills on the average of at least ten percent (10) of the employee’s work time, an employee in the designated position shall first demonstrate a language proficiency of job related terminology acceptable to the Department Head and the Human Resources Director. Thereafter, the employee shall be entitled to the payment of one dollar and fifteen cents ($1.15) per hour. The bilingual pay differential shall be paid for all hours the employee is in pay status, excluding overtime.
Bilingual Premium. Any employee who is required as a part of their job to be bilingual, shall be paid a premium of twenty-eight ($0.28) cents per hour as a result of this qualification. The Union will be notified in advance of any such positions.
