Conference Fund. (i) For Fiscal Year 2017 (6/30/2016-7/1/2017) there shall be no allocation of funds. Thereafter, thirty thousand ($30,000) dollars shall be allocated per contract year to finance attendance at workshops, seminars or conferences by employees, without loss of pay or benefits. No overtime will be paid nor will compensatory time accrue for travel to or from such activity or attendance at such activity. Such workshops, seminars or conferences must be educational and beneficial to the employee and the agency and shall not include xxxxxxx training. A maximum of one thousand ($1,000) dollars shall be allotted for any one attendance and no employee will attend more than two conferences, workshops or seminars per year of this agreement. These funds shall be used for payment of fees and/or travel expenses, including such items as meals or lodging. (ii) Every effort shall be made by the State to allow participation in said workshops, seminars, or conferences. Selection of employees shall be by mutual agreement of the Union and the State. (iii) Upon approval of a request under this Section by the Union and the Agency Head, such request shall be forwarded to the Comptroller at least two (2) weeks in advance of the event. (iv) If any employee who has had a request approved does not attend the workshop, seminar or conference, prompt notice of cancellation shall be provided to the agency's business office which shall promptly notify the Comptroller of the cancellation. (v) As soon as possible but not more than thirty (30) days following the event, the employee shall submit a claim for reimbursement on the appropriate form and required receipts to the business office, which shall promptly process the claim to the Comptroller. If no claim for reimbursement has been submitted to the Comptroller within ninety (90) days of the date a workshop, seminar or conference was scheduled, the funds committed for that activity shall be released and made available for others. (vi) Employees who attend these activities may be requested by management to make a presentation on the events and information acquired.

Conference Fund. A. The Board shall provide a conference budget of $26,500 to be administered by the executives of the HEA. For every $5.00 increase in the per diem substitute teacher rate beyond $90.00 a day, the conference budget will be increased by $500.00. B. The cost of substitutes (minus FICA and MPSERS) used to replace teachers attending conferences shall be deducted from the conference budget. C. Should the conference fund be depleted in any year, a bargaining unit member may, at his/her option, use personal leave to attend conferences in which case, the provisions governing personal leave shall apply. It is understood that a bargaining unit member who uses a business day to attend a conference shall bear the cost of conference fees and expenses. D. It is expressly understood that these monies are not to be used for conferences sponsored by the MEA or NEA. However, a bargaining unit member may apply to attend a conference sponsored by the MEA or NEA provided that no conference funds are requested. These conferences (MEA-NEA) will be jointly agreed to by the President of the HEA and the Superintendent. E. The Superintendent reserves the right to limit the number of bargaining unit members attending any one (1) conference during the school week to two (2) per building per conference. The Association's conference representative may request a meeting with the Superintendent, but the Superintendent's decision is final. F. Use of the conference fund must relate to a member’s teaching assignment or areas in which they are highly qualified.

Effective July 1, 2022 and each remaining year of this contract, there shall be $30,000 appropriated to finance attendance at workshops, seminars or conferences by employees, without loss of pay or benefits. Such workshops, seminars or conferences must be educational and beneficial to the employee and the agency and shall not include xxxxxxx training. A maximum of $400 shall be allotted for any one attendance, each contract year. The parties may, by mutual agreement, adjust the maximum dollar limit for subsequent contract years. No employee will attend more than two (2) conferences, workshops, or seminars per year of this agreement. These funds shall be used for payment of fees and/or travel expenses, including such items as meals or lodging.

Conference Fund. The Employer agrees to maintain a Conference Fund to be jointly administered by the Labour/Management Committee for undergraduate and graduate students who have been a member of the bargaining unit within eight (8) months prior to applying to the fund for the purpose of presenting research that is not part of the Employee’s thesis. The research should be related to the applicant’s mémoire, major research paper or equivalent, or to the work done during a Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant position. Effective September 1, 2007, and annually thereafter, the Employer shall remit $20,000 into the fund. Any remaining funds up to $10,000 in a given academic year shall be carried forward to subsequent academic years. Application for this Fund will be made on the Faculty of Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies Application for a Travel Grant form and is subject to the conditions for that fund as amended in this provision. The Conference Fund will reimburse the following expenses to a successful applicant who is the presenter of a poster or paper presentation, with the understanding that no more than one co-author will be funded for any given conference presentation (if the author is not the presenter, an explanation must be provided as part of the application): (i) travel expenses; (ii) accommodation expenses; (iii) a per diem for meals of $50.00 per day; (iv) material production costs; and, (v) registration costs. Reimbursement of expenses for (i), (ii), (iv) and (v) shall be subject to the submission of receipts. The maximum amount awarded varies according to the conference location, up to a maximum of $750.00. The Labour/Management Committee will decide on the zones and the maximum amount awarded for each zone. The applications must be submitted before the starting date of the conference. An application for funding from the Conference Fund shall include proof of being a member of the Bargaining Unit within the eight (8) months prior to the application, and all documentation required by the FGPS application for travel grant, except that a contribution from the Academic Unit or the supervisor will not be required. The proof of acceptance from the conference organizers (or a copy of the program) must be included with the application.
