Course Assignment. With the exception of courses covered in 11.3.4. of this agreement, all course sections will be offered for assignment by Xxxxx to currently employed full-time bargaining unit members within the division before offering course sections to prospective hires, new hires, or part-time faculty. For the purposes of this Article “new hires” is defined as full-time faculty in the first year of their employment as bargaining unit members at DACC. Off-campus courses may be assigned as part of the regular load. If the off- campus courses create an overload, compensation will be at the overload pay rate. Mileage reimbursement to and from DACC and the off-campus locations will be reimbursed at a rate equal to the IRS mileage reimbursement rate. All course sections must include course outline, faculty contact information (including email), office hours and announcements as necessary in the Blackboard shell on day one of class. Information will be included to instruct students how to access grades.

Course Assignment. For purposes of this contract, course assignment means the filling of classes with faculty and others, as described in Article VI.
Course Assignment. A. A course assignment is defined as the title of a course. Whenever possible, the assignment of a remedial class, such as Academic Intervention Services, will be considered a separate course title for the purposes of this section.
Course Assignment. The assignment of courses will be the responsibility of each instructional area’s administrator. Such assignments will be made on the basis of qualifications. A Bargaining Unit Employee shall be deemed qualified for a position if s/he meets the qualifications for the position as set forth in the position’s current job description. In those instances in which external accrediting agencies mandate changes in qualifications Bargaining Unit Employees shall be afforded a reasonable and/or allowable amount of time to meet the new requirements for the position while maintaining his/her status as a College employee. In the event a qualified faculty employee objects to an assignment, the resolution will be on the basis of seniority. However, conflict resolution on the basis of seniority may not occur if it requires a change in the master schedule or results in less than a normal load for a Bargaining Unit Employee. Objections should be made within one calendar week of the time a copy of the tentative faculty schedule is provided to the faculty employee, but no later than two calendar weeks prior to the start of the semester. Course Assignment. The College shall assign available course sections for each semester and summer session to adjunct faculty after full-time and part-time faculty have attained their full loads and overload to the extent granted by the College or where otherwise needed. The College shall determine the scheduling of course sections taught by adjunct faculty.
Course Assignment. Nothing in this Agreement shall prevent the submission of a course assignment that contains any data collected in the course of the Placement, methods and/or results of the Placement in an externally examinable manner to examiners in accordance with the regulations of the relevant academic institution, subject to the examiners’ being bound by appropriate confidentiality obligations.
Course Assignment. Consistent with this Article, courses will be offered to non-probationary bargaining unit faculty members, up to a maximum of twelve units/credits per academic term, which may be exceeded by mutual agreement between the faculty member and the department chair, with the approval of the Xxxx. For courses for which no faculty member has Course Seniority, the University shall give preference to qualified existing bargaining unit members based on departmental seniority over a similarly qualified external candidate. A faculty member must notify the University of their acceptance of an offered course within ten (10) calendar days of receiving the offer. If they fail to do so, they will be deemed to have declined the offer for that course. In the event that the University assigns a course for which a bargaining unit faculty member is entitled to assignment based on Course Seniority to a less senior faculty member in the unit without assigning an alternative course with equal compensation, the faculty member with Course Seniority shall be entitled to 25% of the amount the faculty member would have been paid had they taught a section of the course. For the avoidance of any doubt, this paragraph shall not apply to the assignment of a course where more than one bargaining unit faculty member is entitled to Course Seniority. The parties recognize that courses may become available to bargaining unit faculty members outside of the time periods set forth above. If a course or section becomes available outside the above course assignment process, the University will follow the same process as defined in this Article to offer and assign courses to existing bargaining unit members.

Course Assignment. A. Priority in course assignments shall be granted to members of the bargaining unit based on semesters taught within the discipline, i.e., subject matter, at the College. Nothing herein shall be construed or applied in such a way as to deprive the College of the right to bypass seniority in course assignments and to hire from outside the College in unusual circumstances when a particular expertise or specialization is needed and not available in the current unit member faculty. In such a case the College will notify the RCCAFA President in writing.
