Court Attendance and Jury Duty. An employee called to serve as a juror or as a witness will be allowed time off with pay at the employee's regular rate of pay during the period of such duty, provided that any remuneration for such duty performed by the employee during the employee's working hours shall be remitted to the Employer.
Court Attendance and Jury Duty. 1. A teacher who is subpoenaed as a witness in court or for jury duty shall continue to be excused without loss of pay. Any compensation received for such service or duty shall be remitted to the Board or an equivalent amount shall be deducted from the teacher’s salary or wages; this requirement shall continue not to be applicable when such service or duty occurs on a snow day or other emergency day that is subsequently to be rescheduled (made up) under the provisions of Article 54, Snow and Other Emergency Days, Section 1.
2. Teachers involved in Juvenile Court proceedings, including where the teacher has personally filed a charge involving a student and must appear in Juvenile Court, shall continue to be excused without loss of pay.

The employee shall suffer no loss of regular pay for the time so spent and any remuneration received by the employee for such duty shall be remitted to the Employer.
(b) Any costs related to such duty (such as transportation, parking and meals) shall remain the responsibility of the employee. Employees are not required to remit to the Employer allowances they receive from the Court for travelling, meals or related expenses.
(c) Employees granted leave of absence under this Clause shall not lose any seniority or benefits as provided under the Collective Agreement.

i) required to attend as a witness in a court of law; or
ii) required to attend as a witness at a Coroner’s Inquest shall be paid at his or her regular straight time hourly rate for time lost from his or her scheduled hours of work which could not be rescheduled, provided such employee:
(a) notifies the Employer immediately upon the employee’s notification that he or she will be required to attend at Court or before the Coroner’s inquest, and
(b) presents proof of service requiring the employee’s attendance, and
(c) deposits with the Employer the full amount of compensation received for such service and the official receipt therefore excluding mileage, travelling and meal allowance.

(b) It shall be the responsibility of the Department Head of the employee to ensure that the employee remits any such remuneration.
(c) In cases where an employee’s private affairs have required a court appearance, such leave to attend court shall be without pay, unless vacation, gratuity or other leave credits are used.
(d) A Parttime employee shall be entitled to the benefits of this Article on a pro-rated basis. Temporary Fulltime and Casual employees shall not be entitled to the provisions of the Article.

(a) An employee covered by this Agreement who is instructed in writing by the Company to attend court, inquests, or other investigations, or is subpoenaed in reference to acts which occurred during his tour of duty, will be allowed the same compensation he would have earned had he remained at his regular work.
(b) An employee who is required to attend court as herein provided on his regular day off, shall be paid at overtime rate for all such time.
(c) An employee receiving compensation, as set out above, will remit to the Company any witness or court fee, expenses or other remuneration received by him from others.
(d) Jury Duty - Employees on Jury Duty will be allowed the difference between the daily compensation they would have earned had they remained on their assignment and the daily amount paid by Jury Duty.
