Election to Public Office. An employee who is elected or appointed to Federal, Provincial, Municipal or Regional Municipal office, who is required to be absent from work because of their elected or appointed duties shall upon written application to the Employer, be granted sufficient time on leave of absence to comply with their duties. Seniority and service shall continue consistent with the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence. Such payment shall be in advance of when the monthly premium is due.
Election to Public Office. An employee seeking election to public office (provincial of federal) shall be provided with a leave of absence subject to the following provisions:

Upon written request, the Employer shall allow leave of absence without pay so that the employee may be a candidate in a federal or provincial election. Should the employee wish to continue benefits during this period, and should the master policy provide for this, he will be responsible to assume both the Employer and the employee’s share of the benefits cost.

Election to Public Office. Any employee who is elected to public office shall be granted a leave of absence of up to three (3) years subject to renewal upon request during the term of office.

A leave of absence without pay shall also be granted to any member of the unit upon election or appointment to public office, so long as the office does not conflict with the duties and loyalties of a police officer. Time off without pay shall be granted to no more than one (1) employee at a time who is elected to part-time public office to conduct the business of said office. An employee must request permission for such time off from his/her division or shift commander at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance each time such time off is desired.
Election to Public Office. A leave of absence shall be granted to an employee who is elected or selected to a full-time public office. Employee benefits for (a) life insurance, (b) sickness and accident insurance, and (c) health insurance are outlined in Article VII, Section K, Para.3 of this Agreement. 755 756 757 758 759 760

Seniority shall continue consistent with the Collective Agreement. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits premiums for plans in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence, should she wish to continue them. Such payment shall be in advance of when the monthly premium is due. For clarity, “full payment” of applicable benefits premiums includes the Employer’s share of the premiums.
Election to Public Office. An employee who is elected or appointedto Federal, Provincial, Municipalor Regional Municipal office, who is required to be absent from work because of their elected or appointed duties shall upon written application to the Employer, be granted sufficient time on leave of absence to comply with their duties. It will become the responsibility of the employee for full payment of any applicable benefits in which the employee is participating during such leave of absence. Such payment shall be in advance of when the monthly premium is due. Two (2) days unpaid paternity leave shall be granted for the birth of a child. Family Medical Leave (as per The employee and the Employer will continue to pay their respective shares of the benefits premiums. Family medical leave will be granted to an employee for up to eight (8) weeks within a (26) week period to provide care or support to a family member who is at risk of dying within that week period in accordance with the Employment Standards which requires a certificate from a qualified medical practitioner. An employee who is on family medical leave shall continue to accumulate seniority and service. Subject to any changes to the employee's status which would have occurred had he or she not been on family medical leave, the employee shall be reinstated to her former position. The Record of Employment (XXX) will be provided immediately following the seventh day of such leave.
Election to Public Office. Any unit member duly elected to a full time, paid public office or full time, elected office of New York State United Teachers, the American Federation of Teachers or the National Education Association will be granted, upon written request, a leave of absence up to two (2) years without pay, credit for step increment purposes, and/or other benefits. To qualify for return, the unit member must notify the District, in writing, by March 31st of the school year prior to his/her scheduled return.
