Emergency Shutdown. When the Superintendent or designee makes a decision to close a school, school facility or the entire School District, the affected employees are excused from reporting to their assigned positions, but shall not be paid for the day. If a 12-month employee is unable to report to work due to an emergency situation or inclement weather, the employee shall have the option to use a business leave day, if one is available, a floating holiday, or vacation day, if applicable, in order to prevent a loss in pay. For 10-month employees, emergency shutdown days may be made up at the end of the school year at regular pay rates if the affected employee(s) wish to make them up.

Emergency Shutdown. When an Employer considers it necessary to shut down a job to avoid the possible loss of human life, or because of an emergency situation that could endanger the safety of an Employee, the Employee shall be compensated for actual time worked.

If unable to work due to reasons other than e-learning or school closure they shall have the option to use an available benefit day (business leave day, floating holiday, or vacation day) to prevent a loss in pay. 10-month staff will not work. For an e-learning day, the District will comply with statutory requirements regarding pay and benefits. For closures, the day will be rescheduled, and pay and benefits will be applied on the made-up day at the end of the year.

Emergency Shutdown. The District shall pay to its employees who provide educational support services to the district, including, but not limited to, custodial employees, building grounds and maintenance employees, food service employees, classroom assistants, monitors and school safety officers, their daily, regular rate of pay and benefits rendered for any school closure or e-learning day if the closure precludes them from performing their regularly scheduled duties and the employee would have reported for work but for the closure; except this requirement does not apply if the day is rescheduled and the employee will be paid their daily, regular rate of pay and benefits for the rescheduled day when services are rendered. Twelve month employees are fully capable and expected to perform their regular assigned duties on school closure and e-learning days and, therefore, are expected to report to work in the event of any school closure or e-learning day. If such employee is unable to report for work due to emergency, crisis, weather, or acts of God, she/he shall not be disciplined but shall have the option of substituting vacation or personal leave days so as not to lose pay, time, or benefits.
