Environmental Sustainability. The City and the Developer have agreed that environmental concerns and energy efficiency are critical issues for new developments. Therefore, the Developer and the City have agreed to the sustainability strategy set forth in Exhibit E.
Environmental Sustainability. 6.1 The parties are committed to improving the sustainability performance of the University through promoting a culture of sustainability, ensuring that the operations are managed in a manner that minimises the University’s environmental and social impacts and through enabling the integration of sustainability principles and practices into teaching and learning, research and community engagement of the University.
6.2 The University will meet its commitment to sustainability through adopting the following principles:
6.2.1 Ensuring sustainability is reflected in the University’s strategic documents;
6.2.2 Developing an annual sustainability reporting framework;
6.2.3 Developing education for sustainability through utilising the University’s research, curriculum and administrative practice to enhance organisational sustainability;
6.2.4 Incorporating the principles of Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD) into all capital and infrastructure projects;
6.2.5 Providing training and support for staff to adopt sustainability principles and practices to achieve sustainable behaviour change in the workplace;
6.2.6 Undertaking research which will develop and strengthen regional partnerships that address sustainable development;
6.2.7 Building capacity in the community by producing graduates who are sustainability literate through their experience at the University; and
6.2.8 Partnering with the community to respond to the regional needs for a sustainable future and provide leadership in our region.
6.3 Staff and unions will be kept regularly informed about the University’s carbon emissions, water and energy consumption levels and this information will be reported publicly.
Environmental Sustainability. You are expected to support the University's environmental sustainability initiatives and to participate in responsible energy consumption, water use, reduction and recycling of waste, and use of sustainable modes of transport.
Environmental Sustainability. 2.6.1 The University is committed to improving the environmental sustainability of the institution by incorporating sustainable practices into its strategies and plans and by promoting a culture of sustainability.
2.6.2 The University will promote sustainability by:
(a) annual reporting on performance against sustainability targets;
(b) making such reports publicly available;
(c) regularly informing the University community of the University’s carbon emission, water and energy consumption levels, green-space and biodiversity.
2.6.3 The University will continue to develop a culture that supports sustainability by:
(a) providing training and support for staff to adopt sustainability principles and practices to achieve sustainable behaviour change in the workplace;
(b) encouraging Staff Members to raise matters relating to waste, pollution, or environmental mismanagement.
2.6.4 The University will support and promote the use of alternative forms of transport to and from work by:
(a) the Staff Travel Loan Scheme, which provides an interest free loan for staff to purchase quarterly, half yearly, yearly passes to travel on trains, ferries and buses;
(b) the provision of pedestrian access paths for walkers, including improvements to current path entry to the campus;
(c) the provision of cycling facilities for cyclists, including bicycle hubs and maintenance area, u-rails, and improved signage;
(d) car pooling, including dedicated car parks and permits for car pooling;
(e) investigating the provision of shuttle buses for staff to, and from, work in those areas of Sydney that are not adequately serviced by public transport;
(f) investigating transport subsidies for Staff.
2.6.5 The University is committed to consultation on the introduction and integration of practices that aim to improve the sustainability performance of the University. To assist with this goal a representative of the CPSU and the NTEU will be invited to attend meetings of the University’s Sustainability Working Group.
Environmental Sustainability. 30.1 The University is committed to improving the environmental sustainability of the institution by incorporating sustainable practices into its strategies and plans and by promoting a culture of sustainability.
30.2 The Parties agree that the long term sustainability of conditions for University employment and staff job security is related to the restriction of carbon emissions, reduction in energy and water consumption and the development of environmentally sustainable work practices within the University.
30.3 Staff members will be consulted and have the opportunity to have input into the development of initiatives to promote environmental sustainability including through the engagement of the Academic Staff Consultative Committee with members of the University’s Environment Sustainability Committee.

Environmental Sustainability. (1) The University is committed to developing and implementing initiatives consistent with its Environmental Management Plan and overall strategic plan. As part of its commitment to sustainability, UWS has become a signatory to the Talloires Declaration, the official international statement made by university administrators of a commitment to environmental sustainability in higher education.
(2) The University will develop a program to build staff awareness of energy efficiency, waste minimisation, sustainable transport use and greater water efficiency.
(3) The Implementation Committee will be provided with an annual overview of the University’s sustainability strategy and initiatives. The committee will provide feedback and input to the implementation of the Environmental Management Plan and Sustainability Plan.
(4) The NTEU and CPSU will each nominate a staff representative with relevant professional expertise to become a member of the UWS Greening Task Force.
