Experience and Training. Certified educators in the District are paid for their years of experience and training.
1. When properly confirmed, previous experience will be allowed to certified educators new to the District, at the discretion of the Superintendent. Credit for experience gained in business, industry, or military, when considered of value to the teaching position, may be granted by the superintendent on an individual basis, but not to exceed three years.
2. When properly confirmed, previous teaching experience will be allowed for certified educators new to the District. The District will accept up to four (4) years of teaching experience from a previous district (Step #4). More years of experience may be granted at the discretion of the superintendent on an individual basis.
3. The base figure of the index schedule is Step 0, Bachelor’s column. The percentages for each of the remaining steps are multiplied by the base to determine the salary for that step.
4. Hours beyond the Bachelor's Degree must be earned after the degree. Graduate and upper-division credits are acceptable. Only lower-division credit approved by the Superintendent may be used for salary improvement.
5. Credit is granted for one step on the schedule for each year of approved teaching experience up to the maximum on the schedule. A year of experience is defined as no less than the equivalent of one hundred thirty-five (135) contract days of approved teaching experience during a two (2)-year period.
6. Certified educators earning enough college credits during a year for placement on an advanced column of the schedule must present official certification of such credits to the Superintendent before September 15 of the given year.
7. Advancement on this salary plan shall be based on satisfactory performance as determined by established criteria and evaluation plan.
8. All special education teachers will receive a $1,000 stipend to be paid in the June payroll. Special education teachers who work less than full-time will have the stipend prorated.
9. The Astoria School District may grant in-District credit for salary schedule advancement to certified educators at the sole discretion of the District. Credit may be granted for workshops, classes, and staff development for which the primary purpose is professional skill development for the certified educators involved. Experience and Training. Contractor must ensure that its Key Persons are experts in the areas of the Federal Register guiding Agency’s CDBG-DR award(s), Agency policies, and the Program Requirements. A curriculum for providing weekly operational trainings to maintain a high standard of practice and train Contractor and Agency staff as well as Agency’s CDBG-DR program partners on program updates.
