Each full time Bargaining Unit member shall receive an average of two hundred twenty- five minutes per week of preparation time within a range of two hundred to two hundred fifty minutes per week in any particular week and a minimum of one preparation period per day. Each preparation period shall consist of a minimum of 30-minute blocks of time at each level. Preparation time for Bargaining Unit members hired less than full-time shall be prorated. The parties agree to a joint schedule review process for the purpose of minimizing the scheduling of the preparation period outside the student day. To facilitate the review process, the District will provide the Association with elementary teacher schedules no later than 48 hours before the first teacher work day, to allow the Association to review the schedules and to suggest changes in advance of the first student day. In the event that the District declines to make the suggested changes, it will inform the Association of the reason for its decision. On any day when an Employee’s preparation period is scheduled outside the student day, the Employee shall not have any Non-Teaching Assignment such as recess duty, dismissal, hall duty or any similar assignment.
