Instructional. An instructional assignment is an activity that results in awarding of academic credit by the college. Each and every instructional assignment shall either be counted as part of the assigned load or counted as part of a voluntary overload assignment, exclusively, and shall be subject to the provision of each respectively. (See Assigned Load and Overload below.) The different components of an instructional assignment are contained in 12.3.

Instructional. Any member of the instructional staff who is willfully absent from duty without leave will forfeit compensation for the time of the absence and the employee’s contract shall be subject to cancellation by the School Board. In addition, such absence without leave shall interrupt continuity of service.
Instructional. Paraprofessionals
a. When district-wide inservices are held during the school year for all staff, paraprofessionals will be required to attend unless excused by the principal. They will be paid at their regular hourly rate of pay for attendance. They should indicate "in-service" on their time sheet.
b. Building principals will designate the paraprofessionals who will attend building inservices or work on inservice/conference days, and provide reasons to all paraprofessionals working in their building for such designation.
c. When relevant to their assignment, paraprofessionals will be informed by the special education teacher of IEP accommodations determined for the students they serve.
d. Full-time paraprofessionals will be asked by the building principal to attend staff meeting when information presented is pertinent. Paraprofessionals attending staff meetings will then distribute the information to other paraprofessionals not in attendance.
Instructional. 1. Supervision of special needs as directed by the classroom teacher and the relevant Deputy / Head of Primary.
2. Preparation of teaching materials, and other items for individual student work and at times small group work.
3. Care of students with special needs (high needs diagnosed).
4. Minimum of fortnightly meetings with Classroom Teacher to discuss role within classroom, i.e., teacher expectations and outcomes for learning.
5. To develop a professional working relationship with the classroom teacher and perform duties in a professional manner. June 2022
6. To provide feedback to the teacher so that he/she can effectively report and communicate with parents.
7. To provide appropriate encouragement and positive reinforcement for students.
8. To reinforce or consolidate classroom lessons with special needs students.
9. To assist the teacher with the general care and well-being of students with special needs.
10. To provide support and strategies to teachers / relief teacher with the classroom management of special needs students.
11. To support students with special needs in the acquisition of emotional regulation and life skills.
12. When required to support the implementation of behaviour management plans for students with special needs in consultation with the teacher, and other relevant professional personnel.
13. To encourage student independence and the development of unique talents.
14. Assist the classroom teacher in the delivery of Curriculum Adjustment Plans (CAP’s), to assess the progress of the student with the CAP in consultation with the classroom teacher
15. To assist in occupational, physiotherapy, speech and other therapy or behavioural programs as directed and as required by visiting specialist.
16. To be knowledgeable of school philosophy, procedures, and policies
17. To assist with the supervision of in-school and out-of-school student activities only as required.
18. To attend excursions / camps/ swimming lessons as required.
19. To be responsible for reporting information if a child discloses abuse.
20. To communicate regularly with school support staff and to direct all student concerns or issues to the classroom teacher or relevant Deputy / Head of School
21. To direct all parents of students with special needs to the classroom teacher or relevant Deputy Head of Primary when a concern is raised.

Instructional. Those activities focused on teaching and learning responsibilities. These would include but are not limited to, instructional preparation, teaching, grading, assisting students, advising, tutoring, maintaining accessibility and availability to assist students outside of the classroom/lab/clinic, curriculum/program development, and contributing to the academic infrastructure (college, department and program).
