- Leave of Absence: Personal Illness. Any teacher whose personal illness extends ten (10) consecutive days beyond the period for which he/she is compensated under our Sick Leave Article (Section 5.01), shall be granted an unpaid leave of absence, for such time as is necessary for complete recovery from such illness. The Board will continue to pay for the teacher's fringe benefits for one month beyond the month in which the teacher’s sick days expire, or until the teacher is eligible for long term disability, whichever comes first. During the leave of absence, the teacher may elect to continue insurance benefits by paying premiums through the Central Office, contingent upon approval of the respective insurance carrier.

Approved leave time shall not begin until all earned leave time (sick-vacation-business days) is used. The employer agrees to continued health insurance coverage for those eligible for a period not to exceed one (1) year provided the employee is the sole insurance holder in his/her family.   • Leave of Absences A leave of absence, subject to the College’s discretion may be granted for a minimum of one term’s absence. All requests for a planned leave of absence from the College, for one term or more, must be submitted in writing to the relevant Head of School for approval at least one full term in advance of the commencement of the leave. The request must include the proposed dates of absence and the reason for the absence. The request can be granted only where all Tuition Fees and Charges and any other amounts owing to the College at the time of the request have been paid in full. For an approved leave of absence, 30% of the applicable Tuition Fees will be charged in advance as a holding fee to guarantee re-entry.   • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home.   • Unpaid Personal Leave of Absence 1. Any employee may apply for an unpaid personal leave of absence for good and sufficient reason. Leave pursuant to this provision may be for a period not exceeding twelve (12) months in any fourteen (14) consecutive months. Such leave may be granted at the discretion of the appointing authority and shall not be unreasonably denied. Employees are encouraged to consult with their agency/department Personnel Officer to determine if they are eligible for benefits available under the Federal Family and Medical Leave Act. If the employee's position is abolished during any such leave, he/she shall be notified and allowed to exercise his/her rights under the Seniority Article of this Agreement.

  • Bereavement Leave of Absence An employee who has a bereavement in their immediate family will be granted up to and including five (5) days absence with pay. Immediate family means spouse, (as defined in Section 2(b) of Appendix 2), parents, and child. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as immediate family. An employee who has a bereavement in their family will be granted up to and including three (3) days absence with pay. Family means brother, sister, parents-in-law, grandparents, grandchildren, son-in-law and daughter-in-law. For this provision “step” relationships are considered as family. In the event of the death of an employee's brother-in-law, sister-in-law or grand parents- in-law the employee will be given one (1) days' leave with pay to attend the funeral. An additional day's traveling time, in each direction, will be granted in order for the employee to attend the funeral if such is to be held in excess of 600 kilometers from the employees’ home.

  • Sick Leave/Personal Leave 1. Each member of the bargaining unit who is regular full-time, in an active pay status, is eligible for ten (10) days of sick leave and three (3) days of personal leave annually. No member of the bargaining unit shall lose the accumulated allowance of unused days of sick leave/personal leave by reason of having been absent for a period without pay, nor shall the employee accumulate any additional days of allowance during the absence. Faculty members needing to use sick/personal days shall fill out the requisite forms according to official College procedures.
