– Organ and Bone Marrow Donor Leave. Pursuant to applicable Minnesota statutes, employees who work twenty (20) or more hours per week shall, upon advance notification to their immediate supervisor and approval by the Employer, be granted a paid leave of absence at the time they undergo medical procedures to donate an organ or bone marrow. At the time such employees request the leave, they shall provide to their immediate supervisor written verification by a physician of the purpose and length of the required leave. The combined length of leaves for this purpose may not exceed forty (40) hours unless agreed to by the Employer in its sole discretion.

– Organ and Bone Marrow Donor Leave. An employee who is an organ donor shall be granted a paid leave of absence not exceeding 30 business days for the purpose of donating his or her organ to another person (Labor Code §1510(a) (1)). An employee who is a bone marrow donor shall be granted a paid leave not exceeding five days for the purpose of donating his or her bone marrow to another person (Labor Code §1510(a)(2)). As a condition of an employee’s initial receipt of bone marrow or organ donation leave, the employee must take up to five days of available sick leave, vacation, or paid time off for bone marrow donation and up to two weeks of available sick leave, vacation, or paid time off for organ donation.
– Organ and Bone Marrow Donor Leave. SECTION 1 Full-time non-probationary and regular non-probationary part-time employees that work at least twenty-four (24) hours per week, who are donors for organ or bone marrow may take paid time off as follows: a. Up to thirty (30) business days of leave in any rolling one (1) year period, beginning from the start of the approved leave, for the purpose of donating an organ to another person. b. Up to five (5) business days of leave in any rolling one (1) year period, beginning from the start of the approved leave, for the purpose of donating bone marrow to another person. After which the Employer will pay for the remaining leave of absence, if additional leave is needed up to the maximum allowed by law. c. Employees taking leave for organ donation must use two (2) weeks of accrued but unused PTO. After which the Employer will pay for the remaining leave of absence, if additional leave is needed up to the maximum allowed by law. d. Employees taking leave for bone marrow donation must use five (5) days of accrued but unused PTO. After which the Employer will pay for the remaining leave of absence, if additional leave is needed up to the maximum allowed by law. e. Paid time off under this Article shall not be considered as time worked for overtime purposes. SECTION 2 Employees on an authorized leave under this Article are obligated to continue their insurance benefits during such leave. The Employer will continue to pay its share of the employee's (and dependents’, if applicable) medical, dental and life insurance premiums, provided they are enrolled in the group prior to the start of the leave. It is the employee's responsibility to make the monthly premium payments for any benefit plans in which the employee or their dependents are enrolled in accordance with the Employer’s procedures and the requirements of this Agreement. Failure of the employee to pay their portion of the benefit premium may result in cancellation. SECTION 3 Request for leave under this Article must be submitted in writing to the Health Services Administrator as soon as possible once the need for leave is known and should be supported by written verification from a medical provider of the need for leave, including confirmation that the employee is an organ or bone marrow donor and that there is a medical necessity for the donation.
