Paid Professional Leave Days. The “paid professional leave days” to which nurses may be entitled is a local issue in the current round of bargaining. NOTE: This issue cannot be referred to local issue interest arbitration.

Such hours will not be included for purposes of determining premium payments (i.e. these hours will not attract premium payment and will not be counted for purposes of determining eligibility for premium payment on other hours worked). (b) The Hospital will provide the Bargaining Unit President with a paid leave of absence of one (1) days per month at the standard hours per shift on the unit where she/he works for the purpose of conducting Union business. The Parties will agree on the timing of this leave with a focus on efficient and effective use of this time for conducting Union business.

The department or division must provide employees with the most recent and available information regarding policies and funds for courses. The nurse must apply in writing in advance for authorization from her manager to attend the course and must present receipts when claiming the portion of expenses that had been approved.

Paid Professional Leave Days. Q.1 Baycrest is committed to the professional development of its nurses. Baycrest may at its discretion grant two (2) days of paid education leave per fiscal year to full-time nurses and one (1) day per fiscal year for regular part-time nurses who apply for such leave. Paid professional leave may be extended to casual employees at the Manager’s discretion. Nurses shall apply at least six (6) weeks in advance of requiring the leave. Baycrest shall give due consideration to the application having regard to the relevance of the education program to the nurse’s work within Baycrest.
Paid Professional Leave Days a. A school-year allocation will be made to each school of one day for each four full-time teachers. The assignments shall be made on a rotating basis to teachers who do not have a previously allocated professional leave day (see paragraph 10-c in this section). The rotation shall be planned by the Quality Improvement Team. Selection shall be subject to mutual approval of teacher and principal. Assignments shall be made by September 15 of each year. A substitute will be provided to replace the teacher using a paid professional leave day or days. i. Each teacher receiving a professional leave day shall meet with the unit head or designee at a mutually agreed upon time to select a mutually agreed upon professional activity. ii. A teacher wishing to attend a professional activity shall submit a request for the professional leave day through the Area Administrator on the form shown in Appendix 3. iii. Any teacher not utilizing a day shall indicate this in writing to the unit head prior to February 1, and the professional leave shall be returned to the building pool. b. A total of 100 days will be allocated for teacher use to be administered by the Areas for the special needs of teachers in curricular areas. c. Each senior high school shall be allocated 12 days each school year and each middle school shall be allocated 11 days each school year to be used exclusively by department heads/team leaders. Vocational and Continuing Education (VACE) shall be allocated eight days, which includes six days for the vocational unit and two days for the Adult Learning Center. d. The individual unit head may request professional leave days for a teacher without using the established bank of days so long as a substitute is not required to fill the vacancy created by the teacher who is attending a professional meeting and so long as the educational program is not adversely affected.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Medical Leave of Absence Where you have a medical leave of absence due to any medically determinable physical or mental impairment that can be expected to result in death or can be expected to last for a continuous period of not less than six months, and you have not returned to employment with the Company or an Affiliate, a Separation from Service has occurred on the earlier of: (A) the first day on which you would not be considered “disabled” under any disability policy of the Company or Affiliate under which you are then receiving a benefit; or (B) the first day on which your medical leave of absence period exceeds 29 months.

  • Educational Leave of Absence Leaves of absence may be granted up to six (6) months under the above provisions only if the course would be beneficial to both the University and the employee.

  • Professional Days The President of the College or the President’s designee may assign any faculty member up to seven (7) days during the academic year for scheduled orientation and registration programs, commencement and convocation activities and such other College sponsored activities the Present deems appropriate. Professional days shall be assigned no earlier than three (3) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the fall semester and no earlier than four (4) days prior to the first (1st) day of classes in the spring semester. Such duties and responsibilities may be assigned to individual faculty members in blocks in one-half (1/2) day or more; and provided further that a faculty member shall not be required to discharge these responsibilities over more than fourteen (14) days during the academic year.

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.
