Paid Sabbatical Leave. 7.12.1 Paid sabbatical leave positions, each of one term, based on ten weeks per annum, will be available to primary principals in accordance with the provisions of this clause. From the start of the 2017 school year the number of positions available annually shall increase from 100 to 105 paid sabbatical leave positions.
Paid Sabbatical Leave. 7.11.1 The purpose of sabbatical leave is to provide a paid period of leave during a principal’s career, to engage in a balance of professional learning, reflection and rejuvenation.
Paid Sabbatical Leave. The parties agree to introduce 20 sabbatical leave positions that will be available annually from the start of the 2024 school year to primary principals who have not previously been awarded a sabbatical and have 15 years or more of service. These sabbatical leave positions would be granted for a period of 20 school weeks. The agreed wording is included in the tracked change collective agreement. The parties agree to review the operation of the 20-week sabbatical provisions not less than 12 months following the opening of the scheme and consider if adjustments are required to ensure it is not undersubscribed. The parties also agree to work together to streamline the application form for principals accessing sabbaticals, specifically the requirements around programme outline, time commitments and reporting intentions. The parties will also explore changes to the way the sabbatical report operates to reduce and simplify reporting requirements. This work will be completed by the end of Term 3, 2023 in order to be implemented before the subsequent round of applications open. The agreed clause wording is included in the tracked change collective agreement (see clause 7.11).

The Priest and Vestry shall agree to the form this planning shall take. Both the Priest and Vestry will participate in this planning, which shall include financial and activity information about the sabbatical, provision for congregational life and continuity, and clergy support during the Priest’s absence. Any unused sabbatical time will be forfeited upon resignation, retirement, or termination, and in no event shall the Xxxxxx leave the ministry of this congregation prior to one year after his/her return from sabbatical.
