Pay Upon Promotion. The salary of an employee who advances from one grade to a higher grade shall be set at the salary step of the schedule for the new job classification that is the closest to representing a pay increase of 5% over the salary last received by such employee in the lower classification. The provisions of this subdivision shall also be applicable whenever an employee is detailed to perform all or substantially all of the duties of a higher-paid classification. In the event that the employee becomes eligible for a step increase while serving in a detail capacity, the employee’s pay will be recomputed based upon their new wage in their permanently certified title.

Pay Upon Promotion. The salary of an employee who is promoted to a position which provides for a higher maximum salary than the employee's current position shall be the next increment higher than the salary last received by such employee in the lower classification; provided, however, that if the next increment is not at least four percent (4%) higher than the salary last received, the employee shall be advanced an additional increment if one so exists and thereafter shall increase in accordance with Section 7.5 of this article. The provisions of this subdivision shall also be applicable whenever an employee is detailed by the Minneapolis Civil Service Commission to perform all or substantially all of the duties of a higher-paid classification.

The employee shall thereafter be advanced in accordance with Section 9.02 (Pay Progressions) of this article. The 5% calculation shall also be applicable whenever an employee is detailed to perform all or substantially all of the duties of a higher-paid classification. In the event that the employee achieves a step increase while serving in a detail capacity, the employee’s pay will be re-computed based upon their new wage in their permanently certified title. An employee who voluntarily demotes to their previously held position within twelve (12) calendar months following promotion shall be returned to the same pay step which was applicable immediately prior to the promotion.

Pay Upon Promotion. The salary of an employee who advances from one grade to a higher grade shall be at the increment nearest the employee’s salary in the lower classification plus 5%, and thereafter shall increase in accordance with Section 10.02 of this article. For the purpose of this Section, “employee’s salary” shall include all incremental increases the employee would have received within four (4) months after the promotion date had they not been promoted. The provisions of this subdivision shall also be applicable whenever an employee is reclassified pursuant to Section 8.07 of this Agreement. Notwithstanding the above provisions of this Subdivision 1, if the parties agree, the salary of a promoted employee may be negotiated between the Association and the Employer to a different step in the new pay schedule to which the employee is promoted.
