Physical Fitness Standards. The Sheriff shall offer all Employees the opportunity during scheduled work hours to demonstrate their ability to meet the physical fitness standards set for members of the SWAT team. Tests will be conducted at multiple times in order to accommodate Employee work schedules, but Employees will not receive multiple opportunities to pass the test in any one year. Employees who achieve a passing score shall earn a $200.00 cash bonus, to be paid with the first pay check in December. The test is strictly voluntary, and neither the Employee’s decision to take or not take the test nor a failing score on the test will have any adverse effect on his or her employment. The standards that an Employee must pass to earn the bonus are set forth in the form below. The run is one mile, and the sit-up and push-ups must each be performed within a one-minute period. The Employee must achieve a total score of 12 points, and must pass each test with at least 1 point for that component. Physical Fitness Standards. Section 1 Intent of Fitness Standards The Employer and the Union agree that it is mutually beneficial to ensure that each employee is physically capable of performing the essential functions, as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, necessary for his/her service in a position covered by this Agreement. The Employer and the Union further agree that the development of valid, job-related medical and physical fitness standards, and the establishment of a program of regular medical and physical fitness examinations to determine compliance with said standards, is the best means of ensuring the physical capabilities of its employees as stated above.
Physical Fitness Standards. Section 1. The Town of Brunswick and the BPBA jointly recognize that an employee's physical condition and fitness can have significant implications for the employee while in the performance of his or her duties. Therefore, all employees covered by this contract are encouraged to maintain a level of physical fitness appropriate to the demands of police work. It is mutually agreed that an annual physical test will be implemented yearly. The test will be given on four dates in September. In order to assist employees in reaching and maintaining a high level of physical fitness, the Town of Brunswick agrees to purchase for each contract employee bound by the provisions of this section, as well as any contract employee who chooses to voluntarily comply with the provisions of this section, a health club membership to be paid by the Town in an amount not to exceed $350 per year. The Town will pay up to this amount in monthly increments directly to a bona fide health club facility of the employee's choice. Employees who voluntarily elect to take part in this program are required to take the next physical fitness test given by the Department and to be bound by the results of that test in accordance with the provisions of Section 1. If an employee wishes to discontinue participation in this program, he/she may do so only after taking the test, and the employee must notify the Chief of Police in writing within seven (7) days of receiving the results of the test. Any employee eligible for the $350 health club membership may opt to use that sum to purchase fitness equipment for the workout room contained within the Police Department. Any equipment purchased hereunder will be the property of the Town of Brunswick. Any eligible employee, or group of eligible employees, may present to the Chief of Police or his or her designee, a purchase request for the purchase of the equipment. Physical Fitness Standards. The CENSECFOR courses of instruction require instructors who possess the fitness and conditioning to support the level of instruction. Instructors shall be personally capable of performing all training evolutions including the ability to effectively complete weapons qualifications in the standing, kneeling and prone positions, ascend or descend ladders and go through narrow passageways, and be free of any abnormal fear of heights. The contractor shall be responsible for ensuring that each instructor meets these standards at time of employment, and that these fitness standards are sustained throughout their assignment to the contract. Each contract instructor shall sign a Statement of Understanding acknowledging the above requirements. This document shall be filed in the ITJ.

Physical Fitness Standards. (A) All employees shall be required to undergo a comprehensive physical examination once every three (3) years by a physician selected by the employee from a list of three (3) physicians mutually agreed upon by the Union and the City. The cost of such examination will be borne by the City. The employee will take the examination on his/her own time at no overtime cost to the City.
