Policy and Group Grievances. A complaint or grievance arising directly between the University and the Union with respect to either:
(a) a matter of policy, interpretation or general application of the Collective Agreement arising from a decision of the central University administration, or
(b) a decision or action of the University administration or departmental management that affects three (3) or more employees, or
(c) an action of the Union’s considered prejudicial by or to the University may be lodged by the grieving party at Step 2 by convening or demanding the convening of a meeting as outlined at Step 2 within twenty (20) days of the occurrence complained of. If a mutually agreeable solution cannot be reached at such meeting, then the grieving party may demand the matter be taken to arbitration by notice in writing to the other within fifteen (15) days following such meeting. Should the grieving party exceed the above time limit, the grievance shall be considered to have been abandoned. Grievances permitted by this clause shall be lodged by the University with the Union Local President and by the Union with the Director of Staff Relations, or designate. It is expressly understood that this procedure may not be used with respect to a situation primarily affecting any employee which such employee could raise as an individual grievance thereby by- passing the regular grievance procedure. It is further understood that the provision for the extension of time limits by agreement shall apply to this Article.
(d) where two (2) or more employees have identical grievances and each employee would be entitled to grieve separately, they must present a group grievance in writing at Step 1 of the grievance procedure.
Policy and Group Grievances. The Employer or the Union may initiate a policy grievance. A policy grievance is a difference concerning the interpretation or application of this Agreement which seeks to enforce an obligation of the Employer to the Union, or the Union to the Employer. The Union shall have the right to process “Group Grievances.” A Group Grievance is one initiated by more than one (1) Employee providing that all Employees who are a party to the grievance are grieving the identical issue.
Policy and Group Grievances. In the event that a dispute of a general nature affecting more than one (1) Employee arises between the Employer and the Union regarding interpretation, application, or alleged violation of the Collective Agreement, which cannot be resolved by discussion between the parties, the dispute becomes a policy grievance or a group grievance. Such grievance shall commence at Step 2 of the grievance procedure. It is understood that either party may file a Policy grievance under this Clause.
Policy and Group Grievances. Where a dispute involving a question of general application or interpretation occurs, or where a group of employees or the union has a grievance, Step 1 of this Article may be bypassed. (1981)
Policy and Group Grievances. The Bargaining Unit has the right to file a policy grievance or group grievance on behalf of two or more teachers who are similarly affected as a result of an alleged violation of the Collective Agreement. The board has the right to file a policy grievance. Any policy or group grievance must be filed within twenty (20) days of the event which gave rise to the grievance or within twenty (20) days of the time when the party should reasonably be expected to be aware of the relevant facts. Such grievance shall be filed at Step one except that a Board grievance shall be filed with the President of the Bargaining Unit at Step Two. The president of the Bargaining Unit, after discussing the grievance with the Bargaining Unit Executive shall provide a response in writing within ten (10) days after receipt of the grievance.
Policy and Group Grievances. The Employer, the Union, or the Union on behalf of a group of employees may file a grievance concerning the general application, interpretation, or administration of this Agreement. Said grievance shall be reduced to writing, dated and signed, and processed at Step 2 of the grievance procedure within thirty (30) working days after the circumstances causing the grievance.
Policy and Group Grievances. 10.01 It is understood that the Employer may bring forward at any meeting held with the Union Executive Committee any complaint with respect to the conduct of officers, committeemen or Union representatives and if such complaint by the Employer is not settled to the mutual satisfaction of the conferring parties it may be treated as a grievance and referred to arbitration in the same way as a grievance of an employee.
10.02 Similarly, the Union shall have the right to process policy grievances.
10.03 All policy grievances shall be initiated in writing at Step No.2 of the grievance procedure.
10.04 On mutual agreement of the parties, grievances arising out of the same matter may be consolidated as a "group grievance." A group grievance shall be signed by all members in the grievance.
Policy and Group Grievances. Where a dispute involving a question of general application or interpretation occurs, or where a group of employees or the Union has a grievance, the grievance shall be submitted, in writing, at Step No. 2.
Policy and Group Grievances. (a) A group grievance on behalf of two (2) or more teachers may be filed by the President of the Bargaining Unit or designate as named in writing to the Board, at Step II of the grievance procedure within eighteen (18) regular school days following the date at which the facts giving rise to the grievance occurred. The Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations shall convene a meeting not later than ten (10) regular school days following receipt of the grievance. The meeting shall be attended by the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations or designate, and any other administrative staff representative the Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations may choose to be present, together with the President of the Bargaining Unit or designate, and at least one (1) other Bargaining Unit representative. The grievor(s) may attend this meeting should either party request such attendance. The Superintendent of Education/Employee Relations or designate shall answer the grievance in writing and submit such answer to the President of the Bargaining Unit no later than ten (10) regular school days from the date of the meeting. Any member of the Bargaining Unit not included in the group grievance shall be entitled to grieve in accordance with the grievance procedure.
(b) A policy grievance may be filed by either the Board or the Bargaining Unit at Step II of the grievance procedure within eighteen (18) regular school days of the incident or circumstances giving rise to the grievance. The parties shall meet within ten (10) regular school days of receipt of the grievance and a written reply shall be provided by the party who has received the grievance within ten (10) regular school days of the meeting.
(c) A policy or group grievance may be referred to arbitration by the delivery of written notice to the Board of Intent to Arbitrate under paragraph L17.06 after a denial at Step II.

A Group Grievance is a dispute of two (2) or more employees with respect to an identical issue. The Union shall be entitled to file Policy Grievance or a Group Grievance at Step 2, and Step 1 of this Article may be by-passed.
