Practicum Students. Practicum students will be supernumerary to existing staffing levels and shall not be scheduled to replace bargaining unit employees.
Practicum Students. Practicum or work experience students shall not be considered as employees under this Agreement. However, the following shall apply:
(a) Practicum students shall not be used to displace a bargaining unit employee or to avoid filling a bargaining unit position.
(b) Practicum students shall be assigned to a qualified member of the bargaining unit to receive training in bargaining unit work both through observation and by performing actual work functions.
(c) In the event a practicum student is required to do bargaining unit work without the presence of a bargaining unit employee, or such work is used on the air, the student shall be paid not less than the start rate of the salary group to which he/she is assigned, as set out in Article 16.7.4 of this Agreement.
(d) A practicum student that is part of the Bell Media Aboriginal Broadcast / Journalism Studies Scholarship and Internship Program will not be paid according to Article 2.4.4

Practicum Students. For the purposes of this Article, a practicum student is a student enrolled in a recognized post-secondary institution who has been placed and accepted with the Agency in a training position as a component of their course of study.
a) Mobile Crisis practicum students may be credit with up to one hundred and sixty (160) hours of training (but not seniority) provided they have a positive performance appraisal by the team leaders. The expectation is that they will be in training for a minimum of two hundred and sixty (260) hours before working a shift alone.
b) Safety Services practicum students may be credited with up to one hundred and eight (108) hours of training (but not seniority) providing they have a positive performance appraisal. The expectation is that they will be in training for two hundred and eight (208) hours before working a shift alone.
c) A practicum student, if hired as a Casual Employee within their respective program, shall be paid the training rate for the remainder of the training period of one hundred (100) hours. Trainees will not work alone until they have completed their training hours. LAY-OFFS, RECALL AND BUMPING
13.1 Job Abolition and Lay-Offs
Practicum Students. It is agreed that practicum students have a role to fill in the Employer's operation and are an important link to the community being served. The use of practicum students will not result in a reduction of hours or the layoff of employees in the bargaining unit. Practicum students will not be used to fill or replace existing positions within the bargaining unit. The Employer will provide employees with an updated list of practicum students. The list shall contain the practicum students names, duration of their service and duties assigned. The maximum number of practicum students assigned to a counsellor at any given time shall be limited to one (1) and shall require both the counsellor’s and the Clinical Supervisor’s consent. Non-clinical practicum students assigned to an employee shall require the consent of the employee.

Practicum Students. The Society may permit practicum students at the day care. The use of practicum students shall not cause a reduction in the regular hours of work for any employee, nor cause or extend a layoff.
Practicum Students. The Union agrees to allow the use of students on practicum to perform bargaining unit functions when such students are assigned to work under the supervision of a manager or bargaining unit member. The Company and the Union agree that the purpose of a practicum is to compliment the student’s learning experience through on the job work experience. The Union therefore agrees to allow practicum students to perform bargaining unit work. Practicum students shall not be used to displace regular employees or to reduce or eliminate any payments, premiums or benefits that would normally be available to bargaining unit members.
Practicum Students. The Union recognizes the importance of work experiences for those undergoing education or training fitting them to work with people with mental handicaps, and therefore shall not impede the placement of practicum students. The use of such students will be subject to the same provisions as those of Clause 30.08.
Practicum Students a) Students on job training programs (i.e. Co-op) such as Wastewater technician, Water Supply technician, Engineering technician or other shall be paid at seventy-five percent (75%) of the rate of the position they are working in.
