Pressing Necessity Leave. Leave of absence with pay chargeable to an employee’s sick leave credits shall be granted for the purpose of attending to an emergent situation which is unforeseen and requires their immediate attention. This shall include emergent and unforeseen situations which require the employee to attend to their spouse, child or parent. Pressing necessity leave is to be utilized for a maximum of one (1) day per occurrence. Further time off by the employee to attend to the situation is considered at their discretion and will be taken as vacation, time in lieu, General Leave of Absence, or any applicable leave as directed by policy.
Pressing Necessity Leave. ‘Pressing necessity’ leave of up to three (3) days per year charged to sick leave will be granted to employees, at the discretion of their supervisor, to deal with urgent matters that may occur under unusual circumstances and that may include but are not limited to unforeseeable events such as fire or accidents, more dramatic personal or family situations, etc.
Pressing Necessity Leave. A pressing necessity is a sudden or unusual circumstance that could not, by the exercise of reasonable judgment, have been foreseen by the Employee and which requires the Employee’s immediate attention (no one else can be substituted) and makes the Employee’s attendance at work impossible. However, it shall not include situations of inclement weather which prevent an Employee from attending at work.
Pressing Necessity Leave. 1. A teacher shall be granted leave with pay not to exceed five (5) days in any one (1) academic year to cover any of the following:
i) Imminent death of an immediate family member - as defined in 5 b) i)
ii) Critical illness of an immediate family member - as defined in 5 b) i) In this section “critical illness” means relating to or being the stage at which an abrupt change for better or worse may be expected and/or relating to an illness or condition involving danger of death.
2. Additional days for Pressing Necessity Leave may be approved by the Director upon written request from the teacher.
Pressing Necessity Leave. Leave of absence with pay chargeable to an employee’s sick leave credits shall be granted for the purpose of attending to an emergent situation which is unforeseen and requires their immediate attention for any circumstances not covered by Personal Family Leave in Article 27.
Pressing Necessity Leave. Pressing Necessity shall be defined as any circumstance of a sudden or unusual nature that could not by the exercise of reasonable judgment have been foreseen by the employee and which requires the immediate attention of the employee. An employee shall be granted leave with pay for pressing necessity not exceeding three (3) days per fiscal year to be taken from their sick leave entitlement. The employee may use banked time or vacation leave if sick time is not available or if additional time is required.
Pressing Necessity Leave. An employee may be granted leave without pay for pressing necessity. Pressing necessity is defined as any circumstance of a sudden or unusual occurrence that could not, by the exercise of reasonable judgment, be foreseen by the employee and which requires the immediate attention of the employee. The employee may elect to use vacation leave, statutory holidays or an earned day off for the purpose of such leave, notwithstanding, the employee may elect to use sick leave subject to the approval of the supervisor. Leave of absence with pay, chargeable to an employee's sick leave credits may be made on the basis of pressing necessity or family responsibilities (to a maximum of five (5) days per fiscal year).
Pressing Necessity Leave. Employees shall be allowed leave of absence with pay, without loss of benefits, at the discretion of the employer in cases of pressing necessity up to a maximum of three days.
a) An employee shall be entitled to access his or her accumulated sick leave credits to be absent from work. Accumulated sick leave credits may be accessed by an employee for pressing necessities as defined below, to a maximum of three (3) days per year, and may be taken in half or full days. Time required in excess of one (1) day at a time, may be authorized by the Employer in the case of:
i) the unexpected or sudden illness or injury of the employee's spouse or child, parents, sibling which prevents the employee from reporting for duty;
ii) surgery on the employee's spouse or child, parents, sibling;
b) An employee absent from work due to pressing necessity must notify the Employer as soon as reasonably possible of his or her absence and the reasons for the absence. An employee who has taken pressing necessity leave may be required to provide satisfactory evidence of the reasons for his or her absence.
Pressing Necessity Leave. An Employee shall be granted leave without pay for pressing necessity. Pressing necessity is as any circumstance of a sudden or unusual Occurrence that could not, by the exercise of reasonable judgment, be foreseen by the employee and which requires the immediate attention of the employee. may elect to use vacation leave, statutory holidays or an earned day off for the purpose of such leave.
Pressing Necessity Leave. 17.4.1 An employee shall be granted leave of absence with pay and without loss of benefits in the event of pressing necessity. Pressing necessity shall be defined as any sudden circumstance outside of the employees control that could not have been reasonably foreseen that is emergent, or unpredictable by the employee and which requires their immediate attention. Such leave shall consist of up to 40 hours per year.
17.4.2 Pressing Necessity shall not be granted in circumstances where other types of leave are available within the CBA (i.e.) Sick Leave, Bereavement Leave, etc.).
