Required Observations. An administrator shall have observed the teacher's classroom performance at least twice if the denial of salary increase is due to classroom performance.
Required Observations a. Types:
1. Formal observations will be 30 minutes or more, Informal 11-29 minutes, and Walk-Through observations between 3-10 minutes.
2. If a non-classroom educator does not work with students/adults for instruction, meetings may be held to discuss/monitor performance.
Required Observations a. All employees newly employed by the School District shall be evaluated pursuant to law.
b. All employees, including new employees, shall be observed at least twice annually. At least one observation will be scheduled. A Pre-Planned Observation Form (Appendix C.2), or detailed lesson plan shall be completed by the employee and given to the supervisor at least one day prior to the observation.
c. The first observation shall be completed no later than February 1; the second to be completed no later than April 30.
d. If an employee resigns during the school year, a minimum of one (1) observation and a final evaluation shall be completed. Such evaluation shall be completed, when feasible, prior to the resignation. When there is a sudden departure from employment, this timeline does not apply.
e. If the employee’s supervisor contemplates recommending that an employee be placed on probation, an observation shall be made on or before January 15.
Required Observations. During each school year all classroom teachers shall be observed for the purposes of evaluation at least twice each school year in the performance of their assigned duties. The total annual observation time shall not be less than sixty (60) minutes. New employees shall be observed at least once for a total observation time of thirty (30) minutes during the first ninety (90) calendar days of their employment period. An employee in the third year of provisional status as defined in RCW 28A.405.220 shall be observed at least three times in the performance of his or her duties and the total observation time for the school year shall not be less than ninety (90) minutes. The evaluator may conduct and/or the teacher may request additional formal observations.
Required Observations. There shall be at least two (2) prearranged observations of each evaluatee, and at least one (1) of the evaluation observations will be at least twenty (20) minutes in length. Total observation time for an employee shall be at least sixty (60) minutes, with a total of at least thirty (30) minutes for new employees within ninety (90) days of active employment.
Required Observations a. Tenured employees shall be observed by a member or members of the administrative staff at least once per year.
b. Non-tenured employees will be observed by a member or members of the administrative staff at least three (3) times a year. At least one (1) observation will be completed October 1 and November 15. The second required observation will be completed between November 16 and January 31. The third required observation will be completed between February 1 and March 31.
c. A pre-observation conference will be held prior to two (2) of the three (3) required observations.
d. All observations should be long enough to enable the employee to demonstrate the full activity being observed. An observation can be conducted for a shorter period of time if it is explicitly intended to focus only on a particular element of the lesson.
e. All employees shall be given a copy of any observation report prepared by a member or members of the administrative staff one day before a conference is held.
f. Response Employees are required to sign observation and evaluation report forms which indicate acknowledgment of the report. The employees shall have the right to submit an explanation or other written statement regarding any evaluation for inclusion in their personnel file. The absence of comments by the Employee shall indicate agreement with the evaluation. The Employer shall sign and reply acknowledging receipt of same. Employees will not be required to sign blank or incomplete report forms.
g. All employees will receive a year-end evaluation.
h. The observation/evaluation reports will include references to the commendations and recommendations of the employee being evaluated.
i. All observations and evaluation report forms will be placed in the central administrative office files.
Required Observations. 40 1. Provisional employees shall be observed at least one (1) time within the first 90 41 calendar days from the commencement of their responsibilities in each provisional 42 year. They shall be observed at least one (1) more time before May 1 of those school 43 years.
44 2. Continuing employees on the long form cycle shall have at least two (2) required 45 classroom observations during the school year. The total observation time for each of 46 these observations shall be not less than 60 minutes. At least one (1) of these 47 observations shall be a minimum of 30 continuous minutes. The first of these 48 required observations shall occur before the end of the first semester. The second 49 required observation shall occur prior to May 30.
1 3. Continuing employees on the short form cycle shall have one (1) 30 minute 2 required observation before May 30.
Required Observations a. All employees newly employed by the District shall be observed within the first ninety (90) calendar days of the commencement of their employment.
b. Minimum Observations - During each school year each employee shall be observed for the purpose of evaluation at least twice in the performance of his or her assigned duties. Total observation time for each employee for each school year shall be not less than sixty (60) minutes. One of the observations must be of thirty (30) minutes duration and at a time mutually acceptable to the evaluator and the employee. Unique arrangements may be required for specialized personnel.
c. Following each observation, or agreed upon series of observations, the evaluator shall promptly document the results of using the appropriate observation results. The employee shall be provided with a copy of the observation report within three (3) days after such observation or series of observations. When circumstances warrant, evaluators and employees may agree to extend the three (3) day report deadline.
d. Additional Observations - In addition to the observations required above, evaluators may make observations at any time during the school year, may cover individual observations or such periods of time as may be identified in the observation report.

One of the two required observations shall be at least thirty (30) minutes in length and the total of all observations shall not be less than sixty (60) minutes. A thirty (30) minute observation shall be predetermined by the evaluator and the employee at least one (1) workday in advance of the observation. All employees shall be observed at least once for a total observation time of thirty (30) minutes by December 1 of each school year. In the event the employee or evaluator is not present near December 1st and the evaluation timeline becomes impossible, it shall be completed as soon as possible thereafter. Following such observation, the evaluator shall promptly document the results of the observation in writing on Classroom Observation Form (see Appendix C1-C5) and shall provide the employee with a copy thereof and meet to discuss within three (3) working days after such a report is prepared, and in no case later that five (5) working days after the observation, unless otherwise agreed upon by the employee and administrator.
