Rights While on Layoff. 1. While on layoff status, a full-time Teaching Faculty member will be treated as a part-time Teaching Faculty member as follows:
a. A Full-time Professor on layoff status will be treated as Adjunct Professor
b. A Full-time Assistant Professor on layoff status will be treated as Adjunct Instructor or as such other adjunct positon as the member held at the time of becoming a Full-Time Assistant Professor.
2. While on layoff status, a full-time Academic Professional member will be treated as a part-time Academic Professional member as follows:
a. A Continuing Contract Academic Professional will be treated as Associate Continuing Contract Academic Professional.
b. A Probationary Academic Professional will be treated as Associate Continuing Contract Academic Professional if the member held that status at the time of becoming full-time or will otherwise be treated as Probationary Associate Academic Professional.
3. While on layoff status, full-time continuing contract faculty members shall be eligible for recall to the position from which they were laid off.
4. While on layoff status, the College will automatically consider such laid off member to be a candidate for any vacant bargaining unit position, and such member will be given an opportunity to interview in appropriate circumstances. If the laid- off employee is hired into the vacant position, such hire shall release the College from any further recall obligation.
Rights While on Layoff. Bargaining Unit members on the recall list will have the following rights:
XV.D.1. No new Bargaining Unit members will be employed by the College while there are Bargaining Unit members on the recall list who are qualified for the vacancy.
XV.D.2. Bargaining Unit members on the recall list will be recalled in order of seniority for vacancies in areas for which they are qualified as determined by the College in accordance with the procedures herein.

No employee on recall shall be offered a vacant position with the Board until currently employed employees have exhausted their right to bid on a vacancy in accordance with Vacancy Article 15 of this Agreement. If recalled, the individual shall have the right to return to the same seniority level and total sick leave accumulation.

171 2. A position held by a Lecturer shall be considered vacant upon the ter- mination of his/her current appointment, when filling positions which are available in the University under the provisions of Article VIII.E.1. above.
172 3. A Faculty Member's fringe benefits shall terminate effective at the end of the month in which he/she is laid off. A Faculty Member who is laid off may, however, continue his/her group medical, dental and life insur- ance benefits at the full group rate, for a period not to exceed eighteen
Rights While on Layoff. A laid off employee shall, upon application and at his/her option, be granted priority status on the substitute list according to his/her seniority. Fringe benefits will be continued by the College until the end of the month in which the layoff occurred. Laid off employees may continue their health, dental and vision insurance benefits through the COBRA law. The appropriate information will be supplied to the employee at the time of the layoff.
Rights While on Layoff. An employee shall be entitled to continue participation in his/her health insurance plan while on layoff for a period not to exceed eighteen (18) months commencing the month following layoff provided the employee assumes the full cost of the premiums. Employees who are laid off shall have the option to be on the Custodial Class VI substitute list and shall be the first called for available Custodial Class VI substitute work in the order of greatest unit seniority; however, this opportunity may be forfeited by poor work performance or by three rejections of offers of such substitute work within thirty (30) calendar days. Unit seniority, category seniority, and classification seniority shall not accumulate during a period of layoff from the bargaining unit, but shall be retained and restored to an employee upon the employee’s recall from layoff. Benefits shall not accrue during the period of layoff; however, accrued benefits to which the employee was entitled at the time of layoff shall be retained and restored to the employee upon recall and return from layoff.
