All shall be replaced on proven need.

Full time employees and regular part time employees who are required to wear safety eyewear will be supplied with the appropriate eyewear by NAED.Employees who wear prescription eyewear may purchase safety eyewear from their eyewear provider. Reimbursement for approved prescription safety eyewear will be available on an annual basis. Only safety eyewear that meets or exceeds the NAED standards as listed in paragraph B, below, is eligible for reimbursement. 2. A full time or regular part time employee whose job duties do not specifically require wearing safety eyewear may nevertheless request that he/she be provided with safety eyewear or safety eyewear that is tinted in a color which is appropriate for the type of work that the employee regularly performs. Any such request must be directed to the employee’s Division Manager and must be accompanied by a statement of why safety eyewear would assist the employee in the performance of his/her work functions and/or why the requested eyewear would enhance the employee’s safety while on the job. If the Division Manager approves the request, the employee will be reimbursed for the purchase of the requested safety eyewear in accordance with the current price list received from the department’s supplier of safety eyewear. NAED will not provide reimbursement for any safety eyewear unless the frame and lenses are industrial grade. Frames and lenses will be considered to be industrial grade if the frame has Z87 stamped on the temple pieces and the lenses are etched with the name or marking of the provider. In the alternative, a statement from the manufacturer attesting to the quality of the product and its equivalency to or exceeding industrial grade standards will be required. NAED will not provide reimbursement for safety eyewear more often than once per year. 3. A request for reimbursement must be accompanied by a statement from the employee’s Division Manager that the safety eyewear meets or exceeds NAED’s standards. If the Division Manager determines that the safety eyewear does not meet NAED standards, the use of the eyewear will not be permitted and reimbursement will be denied.
