School Activities Leave. The City shall permit a represented employee who is a parent, guardian, or grandparent having custody of a child in kindergarten or grades 1 to 12, inclusive, or attending a licensed child day care facility, to take up to forty (40) hours each year, not exceeding twelve (12) hours in any calendar month of the year, to participate in activities of the school or licensed child day care facility of any of the represented employee’s children. Represented employees must give their supervisor notice at least four (4) workdays prior to the planned absence. The represented employee shall use existing vacation, personal leave, compensatory time off, or time off without pay for purposes of the planned absence described in this section. If requested by the represented employee’s supervisor, the represented employee shall provide documentation from the school or licensed child day care facility as proof that the represented employee participated in school or licensed child day care facility activities on a specific date and at a particular time.

School Activities Leave. Up to forty (40) hours per school year (not to exceed eight hours per calendar month) shall be granted for attendance at the school of the employee's own child, xxxx, or grandchild for purposes of a school activities leave provided by Section 230.8 of the Labor Code. The employee must notify the immediate administrator or designee at least five (5) working days prior to the absence. The advance notice requirement shall not be applicable in the event of unforeseeable circumstances or emergencies, in which case the employee shall provide as much notice as reasonably possible. The administrator or designee and employee must agree on the date and time of the leave and the employee must provide written verification from the school visited, upon request of the administrator or designee.
School Activities Leave. Regular Sick Leave may be used by an employee who is a parent or guardian to attend child-related activities of the school or licensed child care provider to a maximum of eight hours per month/40 hours per year (Labor Code §230.8). The employee must provide the Employer with reasonable advance notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt the Employer’s operations.

School Activities Leave. The Organization provides all regular employees, regardless of where they are located, with sixteen (16) hours of paid and eight (8) hours of unpaid school and school-related activities leave, unless additional leave is required under applicable law in which case the full amount permitted by law will be available to eligible employees. School-related activities include, but are not limited to, parent-teacher conferences as well as child participation in play, concerts or sports events (including practices or rehearsals). Parents include mothers and fathers, legal guardians, persons who act as guardian whether or not legally appointed, aunts, uncles, or grandparents of a child, and any person married to one of the individuals just listed. Employees are encouraged to discuss with their supervisor whether their workweek can be flexible to accommodate attending a school activity without the need to utilize any leave (e.g. if an employee needs to leave two hours early, working an hour later on two other days that week). If an employee does wish to take school activities leave, they must notify their supervisor at least ten (10) calendar days in advance of the planned leave unless the event could not be reasonably foreseen. In the case of unexpected events, the employee must notify their supervisor immediately. School activities leave may be taken in increments of two (2) hours. An employee will only be granted the leave if their absence will not seriously disrupt Organization operations or the activities scheduled at that time for their department.
School Activities Leave. A. Both full-time and part-time employees shall be allowed to take off up to 40 hours annually to participate in child-related activities for their own child, regardless of the number of children in the family. An employee who is a parent, guardian, step- parent, xxxxxx parent, grandparent of, or a person who stands in loco parentis to a child of the age to attend kindergarten through grade 12, or a licensed child care provider, is eligible for leave. Employees are required to use vacation, compensatory time off, or time off without pay for this leave. Child-related activities include the following: 1. Finding, enrolling, or re-enrolling their child in a school or with a licensed child care provider, or participation in activities of the school or licensed child care provider. Not more than eight (8) hours in any given month may be used under these circumstances. 2. To address a school or child care provider emergency, if the employee gives notice. A school or child care provider emergency includes the following: a. The school or child care provider has requested that the child be picked up due to an attendance policy that prohibits the child from attending, excluding planned holidays. b. Behavioral problems. c. Closure or unexpected unavailability of the school or child care provider, excluding planned holidays. d. A natural disaster. B. Employees are required to provide their supervisors reasonable advance notice of anticipated absences for child-related activities. If both parents work for the same supervisor, the parent who gives notice first is the one entitled to the leave, unless the supervisor approves time off for both parents. C. Supervisors may request that the employee provide documentation from the school or licensed child care provider verifying participation in activities on a particular date and time. The school or licensed child care provider determines the appropriate and reasonable form of the written verification. D. No employee shall be discharged, threatened with discharge, demoted, suspended, or in any other manner discriminated against in terms of conditions of employment due to their time off to participate in their child’s school or child care provider activity.

Flex Time Employees have up to three (3) hours per year, of paid time to be used as flex time for things such as, sub notes and online training required training by District-Blood borne Pathogen.
