Section 3 - Bereavement Leave. Each employee is granted five (5) days of bereavement leave that shall be allowed for each occurrence. Absence due to death in the immediate family or spouse’s immediate family (immediate family is defined as parent, sibling, spouse, child, grandparents and grandchildren) shall be classified as bereavement leave. Any additional days needed per occurrence may be taken from sick leave only when all personal leave days have been exhausted. In the event of the death of any other relatives not specifically listed herein, leave appropriate to the closeness of family ties may be allowed at the District's discretion.

Section 3 - Bereavement Leave. In the case of death in the immediate family, the Village Administrator may permit up to four (4) calendar days leave with pay. "Immediate family" shall mean parent, guardian, wife, husband, brother, sister, mother-in-law, father-in-law, children, grandparents, grandchildren or other relative or person living with the employee as a member of the employee's household. Two (2) days bereavement leave will be granted for non-immediate family relatives.

Two (2) 29 weeks of additional unpaid bereavement leave may be granted to a 30 qualifying employee. This must occur within sixty (60) days of receiving 31 notification of a family member’s death. The employee may use accrued 32 leave. Additional time off may be requested by the Nurse should personal 1 circumstances demand an extended absence. The granting of such time 2 shall be subject to the approval of the Public Health Director Nursing 3 Supervisor, or designated person and will consider the impact of Nursing 4 operations and services in the approval or denial.

Section 3 - Bereavement Leave. A CDC Teacher may be absent from duty without loss of pay not to exceed three (3) days, or if travel beyond 200 miles one way is required, not to exceed five (5) duty days, to attend funeral or memorial services or to attend to the affairs of the decedent as a result of the death of a member of the Teacher’s immediate family. If an additional period of absence from duty is required for this purpose, a CDC Teacher may be granted additional bereavement leave, which shall be charged as personal necessity leave to the extent that such leave is available to the CDC Teacher as provided in Section 11 of this Article.

  • ARTICLE BEREAVEMENT LEAVE An Employee who would otherwise have been at work shall be allowed up to three (3) days’ leave with pay in the event of the death of a member of immediate family and such leave will not be charged against the Employee’s attendance credits.   • Bereavement Leave (a) Upon the death of an employee's spouse, spouse to include same sex partner, child or stepchild, an employee shall be granted leave up to a maximum of five (5) continuous calendar days without loss of pay. One of the days of leave shall include the day of the funeral or equivalent service. Additional days off with or without pay may be granted by the Employer. Part-time employees will be credited with seniority and service for all such leave.   • BEREAVEMENT/TANGIHANGA LEAVE 15.1 The employer shall approve special bereavement leave on pay for an employee to discharge any obligation and/or to pay respects to a deceased person with whom the employee has had a close association. Such obligations may exist because of blood or family ties or because of particular cultural requirements such as attendance at all or part of a Tangihanga (or its equivalent). The length of time off shall be at the discretion of the employer.
