Shift Working. Where a shift rota is the normal working week, the allowance for all hours worked shall be at the rates set out in the following table:- (i) Rotating shifts (3 shifts on a rota basis including a night shift) Where the total period covered by the 3 shifts over 5 or 6 days a week is 18 hours or more and there are at least 4 hours worked between 20.00 and 06.00 17% of salary Where the total period covered by the 3 shifts over 7 days a week is 18 hours or more and there are at least 4 hours worked between 20.00 and 06.00 20% of salary (ii) Alternating shifts (2 shifts on a rota basis not including a night shift over 4, 5 or 6 days a week) Where the total period covered by the 2 shifts is between 11 and 14 hours and there are at least 4 hours between the starting times of the earlier and later shifts. 12½% of salary Where the total period covered by the 2 shifts is more than 14 hours and there are at least 4 hours between the starting times of the earlier and later shifts. 14% of salary Alternating shift allowances shall be paid where the number of "normal office hour" shifts does not exceed one half (1 in 2) of the total number of shifts in the rota. Allowances for irregular hours working shall not be paid to officers in receipt of shift allowances. The shift allowance shall be paid, where appropriate, in addition to the allowance for work on Saturday or Sunday as part of the normal working week. Time worked beyond the normal shift shall be regarded as overtime and paid for in accordance with Clause 41. Shift allowances are not appropriate to officers employed on a part-time basis.
Shift Working. Shift working means a situation in which more than one shift of no less than eight hours is worked on a job in a 24-hour period and such shifts do not overlap. On all work which is carried out on two or more shifts in a 24-hour period the following provisions shall apply: The first shift in the week shall be the first shift that ends after midnight on Sunday. The normal hours of a shift shall be eight hours, excluding meal breaks, notwithstanding which, the hours to be worked on any particular shift shall be established by the employer. The rate payable for the normal hours of the shift shall be the operative’s normal hourly rate plus, in the case of an operative completing a shift, a shift allowance of 14% of the normal hourly rate. An operative required to work continuously for over eight hours on a shift or shifts shall be paid at the rate of time and a half, plus a shift allowance of 14% of his normal hourly rate, for the first four hours beyond eight hours and thereafter at double time but such double time payment shall not be enhanced by the 14% allowance (i.e. the maximum rate in any circumstances shall be double the normal hourly rate.) After having worked five complete shifts in a week an operative shall on the first shift thereafter be paid at the rate of time and half of normal rate plus 12½% shift allowance for the first eight hours of the shift, and thereafter on any subsequent shift in that week at the rate of double time, but with no shift allowance. Where the nature of the work is such as to require an operative to remain at the work station and remain available for work during mealtimes, a shift allowance of 20% shall apply instead of the 14% or 12½% otherwise referred to in this Rule.
Shift Working. (i) Patterns of work falling into the definitions below attract premium shift payments at various levels. Shift payments are calculated on the basic salary and are part of the normal weeks pay as defined in 6.B.2 above (ii) A shift worker is an employee who works in the same job over a regular rostered pattern of work, within the following definitions. To attract the shift payment the employee must be rostered into all of the shift sessions over the period of the roster. Overtime hours at plain time or premium rates do not attract any form of shift payment. The night rate of (33.3%) applies to employees who work at nights as part of their normal working week. Night work must include the hours 12 midnight to 5,00 am - the core night. If the night shift exceeds the 8 hours the one-third rate is paid to all of the hours on the shift, whatever the start and finish of the shift. The unpaid break must be taken if the shift exceeds 6 hours and must be taken during the shift, not at either end. Night rate is paid for casual or temporary cover in the defined night shift. Hours are worked over the full 24 hours in shifts of five or less in seven days, or averaging shifts of five or less in seven over a reference period not exceeding one year. The shift premium is 20% on the basic salary. Hours are worked within 19, and more than 15, hours per day (excluding the core night) in shifts of five or less in seven days, or averaging five or less in seven over a rostered reference period not exceeding one year. The shift premium is 14% on the basic salary. Hours are worked within 15 and more than 11 hours per day (excluding the core night) in shifts of five or less in seven days, or averaging five or less in seven over a rostered reference period not exceeding one year. The shift premium is 10% on the basic salary, Employees whose shift working pattern predominantly features a return to work after a break of four hours or more between morning and evening shifts. Other split shift arrangements may also be eligible. The split shift premium is 1.5% on the basic salary.

Shift payments are calculated on the basic salary and are part of the normal week’s pay as defined above. A shift worker is an employee who works in the same job over a regular rostered pattern of work, which extends outside the normal eleven hour day, with the exception of night work. To attract the shift payment the employee must be rostered into all of the shift sessions over the period of the roster. Overtime hours at plain time or premium rates do not attract any form of shift payment. Shift allowances are only paid to temporary or casual workers on the same basis as permanent workers i.e. when the full shift pattern is worked. In determining working arrangements to suit the needs of the service, managers will take into account the circumstances of the individuals and groups of individuals.   • Shift Work ‌ (1) Except as varied by this Clause, all other aspects of Section 4 of the Agreement shall apply to the working of shift work. (2) The Company has the right to direct Employees to work shift work as required and the Employees shall work the shift work as directed. Shift work will be worked and paid for in accordance with this subclause. (3) Shift work is deemed to be any arrangement of Project Working Hours where the majority of the Ordinary Hours are worked outside of the spread of Ordinary Hours defined at clause 16 - Hours of Work of this Agreement and when Employees are working as such. (4) Ordinary Hours for shift Employees will comprise thirty-six (36) hours per week averaged over a defined work cycle and will not commence before 5.00pm on Sunday night. Such Ordinary Hours are the specified hours under each shift Employee's terms of employment by reference to which annual leave and personal/carer's leave accrue. (5) Prior to the commencement of shift work, the Company shall seek the agreement of the Employees involved. Failing agreement, the Company will provide to the Employees concerned one (1) week's notice of the commencement of shift work and the starting and finishing times of Ordinary Hours of the shifts. (6) Where less than five (5) consecutive shifts are worked then Employees shall be paid at overtime rates in lieu of the shift loading prescribed at subclause (7) of this clause. The consecutive nature of shifts will not be deemed to be broken if work is not carried out on a Saturday, Sunday, RDO or on any public holiday. (7) A shift Employee shall receive a flat loading of twenty-five (25) percent of their Ordinary Hourly Rate for each hour worked. (8) Employees working night shift shall be entitled to stop work for a half-hour without deduction of pay for the purpose of taking a meal break. (9) The Company may stagger the times for Employees to take meal breaks to meet operational requirements. (10) The Company shall structure the Project Working Hours for Employees working night shift to include one (1) half-hour rest break to be taken without deduction of pay by Employees working the Project Working Hours on any night shift.

  • Shiftwork (A) Where the Employee would have received shift loadings had the Employee not been on leave during the relevant period and such loadings would have entitled the Employee to a greater amount than a loading of 17.5% of the payment under clause 23.1(c), then the shift loadings must be added to the payment under clause 23.1(c)(i) instead of the 17.5% loading. (B) Provided further that if the shift allowance would have entitled the Employee to a lesser amount than the loading of 17.5% then such loading of 17.5% shall be used for the purpose of calculating annual leave loading in lieu of the shift allowance.

  • Contract Work Contract work means capital project work within existing plant facilities, major maintenance and/or revamp work, plant modifications and/or shutdown work, minor maintenance and/or repair work, breakdown maintenance.

  • Extra Work At any time during the Term of this Agreement, City may request that Consultant perform Extra Work. As used herein, “Extra Work” means any work which is determined by City to be necessary for the proper completion of the Project, but which the Parties did not reasonably anticipate would be necessary at the execution of this Agreement. Consultant shall not perform, nor be compensated for, Extra Work without written authorization from City’s Representative.

  • Work The definition of work, for overtime purposes only, includes: 1. All hours actually spent performing the duties of the assigned job, rounded to the next quarter hour; 2. Travel time required by the Employer during normal work hours from one work site to another or travel time prior to normal work hours to a different work location that is greater than the employee’s normal home-to-work travel time and all travel in accordance with applicable wage and hour laws; 3. Vacation leave; 4. Sick leave; 5. Compensatory time; 6. Holidays; and 7. Any other paid time not listed below.
