SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Pursuant to Section 124.39 of the Revised Code of Ohio, the following policy shall be applicable to the conversion of accumulated and unused sick leave at the time of an employee's retirement.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Upon retirement from active service with the County, an employee with ten(10) or more years of service with the state, and political subdivision, or any combination thereof, shall be paid in cash for one-fourth (25%) of the value of the employee’s accrued but unused sick leave credit. The payment shall be based on the employee’s rate of pay at the time of retirement. The maximum aggregate payment shall not exceed the value of two-hundred forty (240) hours of accrued but unused sick leave.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Section 1. Employees who retire in accordance with the rules and regulations of P.E.R.S. (Public Employees Retirement System of Ohio) shall be compensated in a lump sum for that portion of unused sick leave as follows: For employees hired before February 1, 2015, all sick leave hours on credit up to a maximum of nine hundred sixty (960) hours. Additionally, twenty-five percent (25%) of all sick leave hours over nine hundred sixty (960) hours, up to a maximum of six hundred (600) hours (maximum of one hundred fifty [150] additional hours paid). Under no circumstances will more than one thousand one hundred ten (1,110) hours be paid). For employees hired after February 1, 2015, the maximum sick leave conversion shall be nine hundred sixty (960) hours or twenty-five percent (25%) of their accumulation, whichever is less. A lump sum payment shall be calculated on the basis of the employee's annual wage at retirement divided by 2080, multiplied by the number of sick leave hours for which he/she is to be paid. Such lump sum payment is to be made in two (2) equal payments as mutually agreed upon by the employee and the Employer provided that the employee has given the City six (6) months. If the employee provides advance notification to the City Auditor that the pay out of sick leave is to be transferred to a tax deferred qualifying account, the full lump sum shall be electronically transferred to said account within fourteen (14) days of the employee’s retirement.
Section 2. Employees who have retired and received lump sum payments for sick leave credit as outlined above, shall not, upon re-employment by the City, be eligible for sick leave reaccrediting.
Section 3. The death of an employee shall be treated as a retirement for the purpose of payment of sick leave lump sum amounts. Only sick leave credit earned by employment with the City may be converted.
Section 4. Any sick leave taken for elective surgery or improper use of sick leave, in the three (3) month period immediately preceding retirement, shall be deducted hour-for-hour from the maximum sick leave payable under this article upon retirement.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. The Employer agrees to convert to a cash payment, a portion of an employee’s remaining sick leave upon retirement from the County.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. A. Employees who have attained ten (10) years’ service with the state or any of its political subdivisions at the time of retirement from active service may convert one-fourth (1/4) of unused accrued sick time up to a maximum payout of two hundred eighty (280) hours of accumulated sick leave upon retirement from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
B. Employees of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office who have taken a cash pay out from another public agency in Brown County involving sick leave conversion (unless such conversion was caused by employee disability) shall have said number of days deducted from the thirty (30) days maximum payment they could be entitled to from the Brown County Sheriff’s Office. This does not apply to employees from another public agency in Brown County whose sick leave conversion was taken because of physical or mental disability.
C. Employees who are discharged for just cause or who sever with less than ten (10) years service with the Brown County Sheriff’s Office are not entitled to sick leave conversion under this Article.
D. In case of the death of an employee of the Brown County Sheriff’s Office, accrued but unused sick leave shall be paid to said employee’s estate in accordance with “A” and “B” above, regardless of their time in service with the County.
1. If the family of the deceased requests a formal funeral, they may retain one complete uniform and accessories, excluding gun and leather purchased by the Employer. All other equipment, uniforms, accessories shall be returned to the Brown County Sheriff’s Office.
2. In the event that an employee is killed in the line of duty, the Sheriff’s Office shall reimburse the costs of the funeral up to $10,000.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Sick leave shall not be used to extend a date of retirement; however, a unit member, upon retirement, may convert any unused sick leave balance to service credit as provided by Government Code Section 20862.8. (See also Article 21: Retirement.)
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. A. Employees who have attained ten (10) years’ service with the Brown County Commissioner’s Office (as computed under Article 7: Seniority) may convert one-fourth (1/4) of up to one hundred twenty (120) days of accumulated sick leave upon retirement from the Brown County Commissioner’s Office.
B. Employees of the Brown County Commissioner’s Office who have taken a cash pay out from another public agency in Brown County involving sick leave conversion (unless such conversion was caused by employee disability) shall have said number of days deducted from the thirty (30) days maximum payment they could be entitled to from the Brown County Commissioner’s Office. This does not apply to employees from another public agency in Brown County whose sick leave conversion was taken because of physical or mental disability.
C. Employees who are discharged for just cause or who sever with less than ten (10) years service with the Brown County Commissioner’s Office are not entitled to sick leave conversion under this Article.
D. In case of the death of an employee of the Brown County Commissioner’s Office, accrued but unused sick leave shall be paid to said employee’s estate in accordance with ”A“ and ”B“ above.
SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Section 28.1. Employees who have attained ten (10) years service with the Xxxxx County Sheriff's Office(as computed under Article 16: Seniority) may convert one-fourth (¼) of accumulated sick leave upon retirement from the Xxxxx County Sheriff's Office. Sick leave conversion under this article is only available to employees who retire and are eligible to receive a non-reduced age and service benefit.

Employees of the Xxxxx County Sheriff’s Office who have taken a cash payout from another public agency in Xxxxx County involving sick leave conversion (unless such conversion was caused by employee disability) shall have said number of days deducted from the thirty (30) days maximum payment they could be entitled to from the Xxxxx County Sheriff’s Office. This does not apply to employees from another public agency in Xxxxx County whose sick leave conversion was taken because of physical or mental disability.

SICK LEAVE CONVERSION UPON RETIREMENT. Upon retirement, and with five (5) or more years of continuous, full-time service with the Employer, an employee shall be eligible to receive in cash a payment equivalent to fifty percent (50%) of his accumulated but unused sick leave at the time of retirement not to exceed four hundred eighty (480) hours.
