Special Needs Leave. FMP recognizes that employees sometimes require time off work to complete personal tasks. To allow time off for this purpose, the following guidelines will be adopted. • Following exhaustion of all annual leave and personal leave entitlements, employees will be allowed to apply for up to 15.2 hours (2 days) per annum time off without pay to complete personal tasks • Time off under special needs leave is to be considered a privilege and not an entitlement. Leave will be granted for justifiable reasons and in recognition of an employee’s contribution to the Company. • Each request for special leave will be considered individually and approved or otherwise in accordance with the needs of the individual together with the best interests of the company. • Employees will only apply for time off when there are no other time alternatives (other than normal working hours) available to complete their personal tasks • A minimum of one week’s notice will be required to be given unless the employee can provide evidence of urgency • Employees must complete an ‘application for leave’ form through the normal manner and gain approval from their Area Leader/Area Manager • A minimum of time will be applied for. eg. if only 2 hours is required for the completion of their business, the employee will only apply for 2 hours off (not the whole day) • Time off under special needs leave will not be counted under the timekeeping/absenteeism policy for excessive absenceA year will be defined as a 12 month period from January 1st to December 31st • A file note will be completed and signed off by the employee and their supervisor upon approval of special needs leave. A copy shall be given to the employee. These guidelines will be reviewed after 6 months and each 12 months thereafter to ensure its operation is practicable and contributes to reduced absenteeism and improved timekeeping.   • Special Leave (a) Where leave from work is required, an employee shall be entitled to special leave at their regular rate of pay for the following:

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Family Medical Leave (a) An employee is entitled to family medical leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act.

  • Training Leave An employee appointed or elected as an accredited representative of the union shall, upon application in writing to the employer, be granted up to 5 days leave with pay each calendar year (non-cumulative) to attend appropriate courses: • Such courses shall be designed and structured with the objective of promoting good industrial relations within the building and construction industry. • Consultation may take place between the parties in the furtherance of this objective Accredited representative of the union shall mean a job xxxxxxx recognised by the employer. No. of days per year Up to l5 1 5 31-50 3 15 51-100 4 20 101 and over 5 25 The application for leave shall be given to the employer at least 6 weeks in advance of the commencement of the course. The application shall contain the following details: • The name of the employee seeking leave • The period of time for which the leave is sought (including dates and daily commencing and finishing times) and • The title, general description and structure of the course to be attended and the location of where the course is to be conducted. The employer shall advise the union within seven clear working days (Monday to Friday) of receiving the application as to whether or not the application for leave has been approved. The time of taking leave shall be arranged so as to minimise any adverse effect on the employer’s operations. The onus shall rest with the employer to demonstrate an inability to grant leave when an eligible employee is otherwise entitled. An employer shall not be liable for any additional expenses associated with an employee’s attendance at a course, other than the payment of ordinary time earnings for such absence. For the purposes of this clause ordinary time earnings shall be defined as the relevant award classification rate, shift work loadings plus over-award payments. Leave rights granted in accordance with this clause will not result in additional payment for alternative time off to the extent that the course coincides with an employee’s day off in the 19 day month work cycle. An employee on request by their employer shall provide proof of their attendance at any course within 7 days. If an employee fails to provide such proof the employer may deduct any amount already paid for attendance from the week’s pay or any monies due to the employee. Where an employee is sick during a period when leave under this provision has been granted proof of attendance at the course is not required for that period and the employee shall receive payment in accordance with personal leave provisions. Leave of absence granted in accordance with this clause shall count for all purposes of employment.

  • Mourner's Leave One (1) day's leave shall be granted without loss of pay or wages to attend a funeral as a pallbearer.

  • Carer’s Leave An employee may use up to 10 days accrued sick days as carers leave to tend to the care for members of the employee’s immediate household. The leave will be subject to the employee providing reasonable proof of the need for the use of xxxxx’s leave. In circumstances where the employee has exhausted all of the paid leave, a further 2 days unpaid leave may be taken.

  • Donor Leave An employee shall be granted the necessary leave of absence with pay for the purpose of donating bone marrow or an organ.

  • Childrearing Leave 1. Any teacher who has acquired tenure and is expecting a child, or whose spouse is expecting a child, or who has documented plans in the immediate future to adopt or xxxxxx a child of preschool age or a preteen child with special needs or who is non-English speaking, may be granted a long-term leave without pay for child-rearing purposes up to two (2) full semesters or a reasonably requested portion thereof within the same school year.

  • Education Leave (a) If required by the Employer, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications.
