Special Needs Leave. FMP recognizes that employees sometimes require time off work to complete personal tasks. To allow time off for this purpose, the following guidelines will be adopted. • Following exhaustion of all annual leave and personal leave entitlements, employees will be allowed to apply for up to 15.2 hours (2 days) per annum time off without pay to complete personal tasks • Time off under special needs leave is to be considered a privilege and not an entitlement. Leave will be granted for justifiable reasons and in recognition of an employee’s contribution to the Company. • Each request for special leave will be considered individually and approved or otherwise in accordance with the needs of the individual together with the best interests of the company. • Employees will only apply for time off when there are no other time alternatives (other than normal working hours) available to complete their personal tasks • A minimum of one week’s notice will be required to be given unless the employee can provide evidence of urgency • Employees must complete an ‘application for leave’ form through the normal manner and gain approval from their Area Leader/Area Manager • A minimum of time will be applied for. eg. if only 2 hours is required for the completion of their business, the employee will only apply for 2 hours off (not the whole day) • Time off under special needs leave will not be counted under the timekeeping/absenteeism policy for excessive absenceA year will be defined as a 12 month period from January 1st to December 31st • A file note will be completed and signed off by the employee and their supervisor upon approval of special needs leave. A copy shall be given to the employee. These guidelines will be reviewed after 6 months and each 12 months thereafter to ensure its operation is practicable and contributes to reduced absenteeism and improved timekeeping. This category will be applied to employees of the Company who are engaged to work on a flexible basis within maximum and minimum hourly limits determined over a four-week cycle.   • Special Leaves An employee who is on an approved FMLA leave or on a Voluntary Reduction in Hours as provided elsewhere in this Agreement maintains eligibility for an Employer Contribution.

Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses.   • Health Leave Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.
