Special or Compassionate Leave. 23.3.1 The Employer may grant an employee a leave of absence with pay for not more than three (3) days in a year for special or compassionate purposes.

Leave-of-absence without pay and without loss of seniority may be granted to an employee for special or compassionate reasons or for educational purposes if the request meets the operational requirements of the Employer for a period of up to one (1) continuous year with the approval of the Chief Executive Officer. Special or Compassionate Leave. (a) The Employer may grant leave of absence with pay for not more than six (6) days in any attendance year as defined in Article to an employee upon any special or compassionate grounds and the period of the leave shall be charged against the attendance credits of the employee unless otherwise herein provided. Up to three (3) days leave under Article (a) may be granted for the following reasons: professional, legal and/or medical appointments that cannot be scheduled outside the employee’s work hours: parental and/or family related responsibilities. Leaves specified under would be subject to the following provisions: the employee applies for such leave at least seven (7) days in advance of the period required, or as soon as such period is known; and requested xxxxxxxxxx by theemployee’s immediate supervisor or designate. For the purpose of administration, approved leave specified under shall be charged against the employee’s attendance credits as follows: up to two (2) hours: one quarter day credit; between two (2) hours and four (4) hours: one half day credit: between four (4) hours and six (6) hours: three quarter day credit; more than six (6) hours: one (1) full day credit.
Special or Compassionate Leave. 23.3.1 The Employer may grant an employee a leave of absence with pay for not more than three (3) days in a year for special or compassionate purposes.
23.3.2 Notwithstanding subsection 23.3.1, a Deputy Minister may grant an employee a leave of absence with pay for six (6) months or less for special or compassionate purposes.
23.3.3 A leave of absence with pay may be granted for more than six (6) months upon the certificate of the Public Service Commission.
23.3.4 An employee granted a leave of absence pursuant to Article 23.3 shall accrue credits and be covered by benefit plans during such leave.
Special or Compassionate Leave. 23.4.1 The Employer shall grant an employee a leave of absence with pay upon special or compassionate grounds, such as unforeseen personal or family emergencies, or religious leave, as set out below in Article 23.5. Leaves of absence with pay will normally not exceed three (3) days total per calendar year, however, requests for longer periods of absence may be considered.
