Special Positions. 6.6.1.1 Where it is necessary to establish positions for which the duties and responsibilities fall within the scope of the certification granted to the Union but do not include duties and responsibilities of other classifications of employees listed in Article 6, the positions may be established only after consultation with the Union. The Union shall be consulted on the duties and responsibilities of the positions, on the criteria for evaluation (11.5.2 to the extent that it is applicable), on professional development responsibilities, on workload and hours of work, and on related terms and conditions of the positions. The Union shall notify the University within fourteen (14) days of its agreement or disagreement with the establishment of special positions. The establishment of a special position may be grieved by the Union.
6.6.1.1.1 Once a special appointment job description has been agreed between the University and the Union that job description shall apply to all other Special Appointees doing the same or substantially the same work without the need for further consultation with the Union under 6.
6.1.1. The special appointee position job description of Project Manager, Program Developer and Campus Developer are as previously agreed.

2. In the event that special, unforeseen circumstances arise during the duration of this contract, the Board and the Association may, by mutual consent, agree to temporarily delete one or more of these positions for an agreed upon, specified period of time for the purpose of dealing with such crises.

a. Media specialists – at least 4.0 licensed Media Specialists provided for the YF-6 levels. Media specialist service levels will be determined after soliciting input regarding service levels for teachers. Media specialist services will be provided at each building.

Vacancies that occur in these positions will be advertised for 21 days and will be filled according to the pre established criteria for the filling of these positions. The establishment of a special position may be grieved by the Union. Once a special appointment job description has been agreed between the College and the Union, that job description shall apply to all other Special Appointees doing the same or substantially the same work without the need for further consultation with the Union under 6.6.1.1. By appointment. In such cases, the normal appointment, evaluation, and reappointment processes shall apply. Special Positions shall be eligible for regularization (11.7). Employees filling special positions are Special Appointees and have all rights, privileges, and prerogatives of all other members of the bargaining unit. Employees appointed, assigned or reassigned to such positions shall have their duties and responsibilities outlined and the basis of their evaluation indicated in their letters of appointment or in the identification of their assignment/ reassignment. Conditions of employment (seniority, placement, benefits, workload, professional development, reduction, etc.) for Special Appointees shall be consistent with those for other members of the bargaining unit. The criteria for the evaluation of Special Appointees shall be as indicated in 11.5.2 as applicable to the duties and responsibilities of the Special Position. The evaluation of Special Appointees shall be limited to the requirements of the Special Position and shall have no bearing on any other position previously held by the Special Appointee. Special Positions. Only permanent employees will be eligible for consideration for the following special positions. If at any time an employee holding one of these special positions, or the District become dissatisfied with the conditions outlined in this Article, either party may upon written notice to the other, withdraw from this arrangement, no reason need be indicated. The arrangement will be discontinued at an agreed date not less than (30) days after the notification.
1. All vacant special positions will be filled within 90 days.
2. Firefighters holding any special position cannot hold another special position or rank.
3. All special positions will provide monthly reports to the District Chief.
Special Positions. The normal workweek for newly hired officers not yet certified by the Municipal Police Training Council shall be Monday through Friday and shall consist of five (5) working days, forty (40) hours per week with two (2) consecutive days off until such time as they enter the field training officer phase of the program. Upon entering the field training officer phase of the program, new employees shall work a 4-2 schedule and an eight and one-half (81/2) hour work shift.
