If approved, such leave shall officially begin at the beginning of the school year immediately following. The teacher applying for sabbatical leave shall submit a detailed rationale indicating the degree to which s/he believes his/her projected program has merit, to the Board on or before October 15th. The Board will respond to such applications within sixty (60) days. Such leave may be granted to approximately two (2) percent of the teachers in the system per year.
