Temporary Replacement Pay. Should any teacher upon the request of the principal or designee, forfeit his/her preparation period to teach a class, or watch students he/she shall receive an additional .167 of the per diem base salary for high school and middle school or .10 of the per diem base salary for an elementary period. The minimum time which will be reimbursed will be no less than the amount of employee preparation time.

If there is one (1) level difference in the two (2) positions (e.g. Level 5 to Level 6), the substituting employee shall be paid at the top of the applicable position level. If a vacancy exists, the provisions of Article 5:01 and Article 15:02 must be adhered to. 16:04 An employee temporarily assigned to relieve in a supervisory position removed from the Union’s jurisdiction for a time period of two (2) hours or more shall be paid next to the maximum in the supervisory level. The assignment shall not exceed two (2) months. 16:05 In calculating replacement pay, paid holidays and vacations shall not constitute a break in consecutive working days. The current rate of pay shall be paid instead of replacement pay for a paid holiday not worked if the employee qualifies for payment for such holiday. 16:06 An employee shall not assume the responsibility of a higher rated position until ordered to do so by their immediate supervisor.

Temporary Replacement Pay. If a Captain is going to be absent for one full 24 hour shift or more (e.g. vacation, FMLA, etc.), the Chief will assign a lower ranking employee to temporarily fill the higher ranking position. The Chief shall assign the next highest ranking, on-duty, full- time employee, based on time in rank and with the appropriate qualifications for the position, to perform the duties. The lower ranking employee so assigned shall be paid at the starting base pay rate of the higher ranking position for all hours worked in the higher ranking position.
