Unscheduled Shifts. The parties recognize the inconvenience that may result 5 when nurses are asked to respond to unexpected increases in the patient census by 6 working unscheduled shifts. Therefore, nursing management will reassess posted 7 schedules according to current census information not less than eight hours prior to the 8 start of the shift and reasonably attempt to fill any additional needs by contacting on-call 9 or unscheduled nurses at least eight hours prior to the scheduled start of the shift. This 10 accommodation will not prevent other methods of filling scheduling needs.

Unscheduled Shifts. A Pharmacist who is called to work an unscheduled shift and who is called not later than one-half (1/2) hour after the commencement of that shift shall be paid for the entire shift if she/he arrives within a reasonable period of time after being called.
Unscheduled Shifts. A Nurse who is called to work an unscheduled shift and who is called no later than one-half (1/2) hour after the commencement of that shift shall be paid for the entire shift if she/he arrives within a reasonable period of time after being called.

The employee occupying said “indefinite term” position shall receive notice of the termination of their indefinite term equivalent to the amount of notice the employee returning from the leave provides the Employer or as in accordance with The Employment Standards Code of Manitoba, whichever is greater:

If the Employer chooses to pay more for any of these 7 shifts, they will be clearly designated. Different shifts can have different 8 incentives, but it must be clear which rate applies to which shift.
Unscheduled Shifts. All hours worked in excess of 32 hours in a 31 workweek by regularly scheduled nurses as a result of volunteering for 32 remaining unscheduled shifts after the schedule has been posted. For 33 nurses who are regularly scheduled to work 30 hours per week, this 34 threshold shall be 30 hours. The foregoing thresholds shall include low 1 census hours. Regularly scheduled nurses who are specifically 2 requested by the Employer to work shall also be entitled to this pay.

The foregoing thresholds shall include low census hours. 25 When the shift is designated by the Employer as eligible for 26 Unscheduled Shift pay regularly scheduled nurses who are specifically 27 requested by the Employer to work shall be entitled to this pay. The 28 Employer shall notify the nurse if the shift has been designated as an 29 Unscheduled Shift at the time of the request. 31 Regularly scheduled and per diem nurse volunteer sign-up is limited to 32 three (3) shifts (24 hours) during the initial seven (7) calendar days 33 following the posting of the work schedule. Nurses shall have 34 unlimited sign-up following this first week.

The Hospital agrees to maintain the Defined Benefit Retirement Plan as long as there are eligible employees covered by the Plan and will not seek in any way to eliminate or modify the plan in any future contract negotiations. The Hospital agrees to execute any documents necessary to effectuate this commitment. The defined benefit plan will be maintained as long as there are eligible employees covered by the plan and consistent with regulations of the Internal Revenue Service and the United States Department of Labor. This provision shall remain in effect until there are no longer eligible employees covered by the defined benefit plan. After many years, if the number of remaining plan participants makes it unfeasible to continue the plan, the Hospital will guarantee that their monthly pension will not be eliminated or reduced.
