Vacation Leave Requests. If an employee desires to take vacation leave the employee must submit a written request to the Institution. The Institution shall review the request and approve or deny the request based on operating needs. If two (2) or more employees request the same time period and the matter can not be resolved the matter will be resolved through Article 32, Section 10(d) of the Agreement.

Vacation Leave Requests. Vacation time shall be approved by the Chief 15 and shall be taken at no less than one (1) hour at a time for up to eighty (80) hours, provided 16 notice is given seven (7) days in advance and scheduling changes from the posted 17 schedule will not result in any additional wage expense to the Employer. The Employer 18 agrees to not force an employee in for any overtime coverage on their regularly 19 scheduled days off that abut approved leave, except in an emergency, as determined by 20 the Chief. 21

Leaving a message during off-hours will not guarantee the request will be approved. It is the responsibility of the employee to make contact and confirm the request for unscheduled vacation has been approved.

Vacation Leave Requests. Employees shall make vacation requests to their manager or supervisor. On or before the 1st of March of each year. In the event there is a conflict in dates requested, seniority shall apply. Notification of approved or rejected vacations shall then be provided by March 15th (annually). After the dates have been approved, no person can be bumped by a more senior employee unless by mutual agreement. The City retains the right to approve vacation leave requests in a manner that will least interfere with work demands. Vacation Leave Requests. Employees must arrange the times for taking vacation leave in advance with their supervisor. Where the interest of the City requires the employee's attendance, the City's interest overrides the employee's. The dates for shift employees’ vacations will be scheduled by the bidding process as detailed in 15a(9). A shift employee's vacation may be taken outside the initial vacation bid schedule if mutually acceptable between the employee and the Fire Chief and with regard to the City's interest. Leave credits may not be advanced nor may leave be taken retroactively.
