Vacation Season. Vacations will be scheduled by the Company as follows:

Vacation Season. For purposes of this Agreement the vacation year shall be defined as the period from April 1st to the next following March 31st. Vacations may be granted at any time subject to the demands of the business but the Employer will make a sincere effort to grant vacations at times requested. Senior employees shall be given preference in vacation selection. Vacations shall be posted prior to April 1st each year ad cannot thereafter be changed except by mutual agreement. Employees who earn two (2), three (3) or four (4) weeks of vacation shall be entitled to carryover one (1) week of vacation from one year to the next. Employees who earn more than four (4) weeks of vacation shall be entitled to carryover one (1) week of vacation during the life of this agreement. Employees who carry any vacations forward shall not reverse the carry over within the selection year and then must take the vacation in the year it was carried forward to along with the their full vacation entitlement in that same year. When an employee who has selected vacation in his department changes departments, his vacation may have to be rescheduled to an available time within the new department. The new vacation dates will be scheduled by mutual consent, such consent not to be unreasonably denied. An employee who claims that they have been financially damaged by the cancellation of his vacation under this clause may submit a claim to the Employer for reimbursement of unavoidable losses. This will only occur if no other employee is willing to exchange vacation time with the affected employee.

BetweenJanuary 1st and the last day of Febru- ary of each year, employees will arrange their vacation schedules with their foremen and employees may select their vacation time in accordance with their seniority. Between March 1st and March of each year, xxxx- tion times selected by junior employees which conflict with times selected by more senior employees will be rescheduled in accordancewith their seniority. Failure of an employee to select his vacation prior to the last day of February automaticallygives the Company the privi- lege of selecting his vacation period. The principal xxxx- tion schedulewill run through the June, July, August and September, but may be scheduled during other months by arrangement with the Company. The applicablevacation schedulewill be posted in each de- partment prior to April 15thof each year. The Company has the privilege on thirty (30) days’ noticeto close down a particular department, departments, or the entire plant for any two-week period in the months of July and August in order to complete vacation schedules. The Union requeststhat, if it can possibly be arranged, this period shall be the last week of July and the first week of August. and the Unionagree on the prin- ciple that eligibleemployees must take vacations during the vacation season as specified above. Vacation pay will not be allowed for vacations not taken.

Senior employees in each department shall be given preference. Employees eligible for vacation shall be notified of their vacation periods as far in advance as possible. It is understood that Company’ ability to grant vacation will be subject to the demands of the business. Ten percent (10%) vacation allowance per department will be permitted (except for limitations in early pack). Where possible, at the sole discretion of the Company, in excess of 10% will be allowed. Vacations must be taken as booked.

Vacation period selection shall be performed in two (2) separate bidding processes. The first round of bidding will permit employees the right to schedule up to the first three (3) weeks of their vacation entitlement. The first round of vacation bidding shall be completed by March 31st, and the results posted by April 1st. Employees may schedule their remaining vacation entitlement at the second round of bidding. The second round of vacation bidding shall be completed by April 30th, and posted by May 1st.

In consideration of employees seeking more vacation time, especially during prime time (July/August), the company, when feasible (based on the availability of replacement employees and demands of the business) will accommodate such requests. At a minimum and as a general rule, the Company will plan on one (1) employee being off on vacation, per seven (7) employees for departments with greater than twenty (20) employees; and one (1) employee being off on vacation per six (6) employees for departments with twenty (20) employees or less.
