Adoption/Paternity Leave. (a) An Employee who has completed her or his probationary period shall, upon written request, be granted leave without pay and benefits for up to 12 months that is necessary for the purpose of adopting a child or for parenting duties following the birth of a child. An Employee on such leave shall provide the Employer with at least two weeks written notice of readiness to return to work. The Employer shall reinstate the Employee in the same position held by her or him immediately prior to taking leave, or, if such is not possible, provide the Employee with alternate work of a comparable nature at not less than the same step in the pay scale and other benefits that accrued to the Employee up to the date leave commenced.
(b) The Employee may commence adoption leave upon one days notice provided that application for such leave is made when the adoption has been approved and the Employer is kept informed of the progress of the adoption proceedings.
(c) The Employee may commence paternity leave with one days notice provided that the initial application for such leave is made 12 weeks prior to the expected date of delivery.
(d) Benefits coverage will continue at pre-leave cost-share arrangements for 12 full weeks of adoption/paternity leave provided that the Employee makes arrangements to prepay their share of the premium prior to the commencement of the adoption/paternity leave.

(d) 75%:25% premium cost sharing will continue for 12 full weeks of Adoption/Paternity Leave provided that the Employee makes arrangements to prepay their share of the premium prior to the commencement of the Adoption/Paternity Leave.

(a) The Blood Tribe Health strongly supports Employee’s participation in continuing education and may assist Employees in offsetting monetary costs associated with continuing education.
(b) All requests for financial assistance related to continuing education Employees will be at the discretion of the Blood Tribe Department of Health CEO and must be relevant to his/her duties and responsibilities in the Blood Tribe Department of Health.
Adoption/Paternity Leave. (a) An Employee, upon written request, shall be granted leave without pay for up to six (6) months as necessary for the purpose of adopting a child, or for parenting duties following the birth of a child.
(b) Advanced notification of at least three (3) months shall be given in writing to the Employer of the intent to apply for leave on the understanding that it may be necessary for the Employee to commence leave immediately that the child becomes available, or is born. Further written notification shall be given to the Director of Care of the exact dates of the leave when they are known. Leave shall be limited to six (6) months and shall be without pay and benefits.
(c) An Employee on such leave shall provide the Employer with two (2) weeks written notice of readiness to return to work following which the Employer will reinstate her in the same position held by her immediately prior to taking leave and at the same step in the pay scale or provide her with alternate work of a comparable nature at not less than the same step in the pay scale and other benefits that accrued to her up to the date she commenced leave.
Adoption/Paternity Leave. (a) An Employee shall, upon his/her written request, be granted adoption leave for the purpose of adopting a child or paternity leave for parenting duties following the birth of a child. Such leave shall be without pay, benefits and accrual of benefit credits. Such leave will not exceed twelve (12) months following the date of adoption or birth of a child.
(b) An Employee on adoption or paternity leave shall give the Employer four (4) weeks written notice as to whether or not he/she intends to return to work. Upon his/her return to work, he/she shall be reinstated in the same position held by his/her immediately prior to taking leave and at the same step in the pay scale, if such is not possible, provide his/her with alternate work of a comparable nature at not less than the same rate in the pay scale and other benefits that accrued to his/her up to the date he/she commenced leave.
(c) The Employee may commence adoption leave upon one (1) days notice provided that application for such leave is made when the adoption has been approved and the Employer is kept informed of the progress of the adoption meetings.
(d) The Employee may commence paternity leave upon one (1) days notice provided that the initial application for such leave is made twelve (12) weeks prior to the expected date of delivery.
(e) The benefit premium cost sharing will continue for twelve (12) full weeks of adoption/paternity leave provided that the Employee makes arrangements to prepay their share of the premium prior to the commencement of the adoption/paternity leave.

An employee who has completed 20 weeks of service with the employer may request unpaid adoption leave, provided the employee has given the employer notice of the employee’s intent to adopt a child and an anticipated date of leave if known. The timing of the leave will be based on operational requirements and may not exceed 12 months, inclusive of parental leave from the date of adoption or in the case of paternity leave the date of birth of the child. Prior to returning to work the employee must give at least 21 days' notice of her intention to return to employment. The employee will accrue seniority, sick leave credits, vacation credits and time toward increments.
