Continuing Education Credits. As an incentive for teachers to upgrade their skills at workshops and seminars approved by the administration, the Board shall add a personal leave day for each fifteen (15) hours of actual workshop or seminar attendance. (For example: A teacher gets approval to take two classes on computers that meets four sessions each, at two hours per session. This totals sixteen hours of time. This makes the teacher eligible for one leave day in accordance with the following paragraphs.) 1. A personal business day shall be given on a day with mutual consent of the administration and shall be labeled “Continuing Education Credit Day.” All workshops and seminars eligible for these CEC’s shall be at the expense of the teacher and outside of the school day. 2. Should a teacher elect and get approval to take a university credit class under this provision, then only the completion of a class that shall meet for fifteen (15) hours or more shall be counted for one Continuing Education Credit Day. 3. The Superintendent or designee shall have the authority to award CEC units to teachers on a prorated basis whenever a teacher or teachers shall be requested to attend a workshop or seminar. The prorated portion shall take into consideration the time of the workshop or seminar, the financial involvement of the district and or the teacher in the workshop or seminar, and other related conditions that would warrant an award of CEC credits to the teacher(s). 4. A maximum six (6) days credit may be accumulated for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24) months duration. Failure to use these accumulated days within the above noted time limit will result in a payment of $50 per day if a request for payment is submitted in writing by the teacher prior to June 1. It is understood that in special circumstances more than two (2) consecutive days may be granted only with the approval of the Superintendent. Starting with the 2010/2011 school year, all CEC time earned will expire at the end of the school year, two years from the year in which it was earned. (Example: CEC time earned in September 2010 will expire on the last teacher day in June 2013.) All CEC time earned after the last contractual teacher day will be credited to the teacher in the upcoming school year. (Example: CEC time earned on June 19, 2010 will be credited to the teacher’s CEC bank for the 2010/2011 school year.) Continuing Education Credits. Any teacher that has a Master’s degree (or Master’s equivalent for those that qualify in Article 18.C) will receive State Continuing Education Clock Hours (SCECHs) credit for salary schedule advancement when both of the following conditions are met: 1. Written approval from the Superintendent has been received prior to participating in the workshop or class; and 2. The workshop or class has either been certified as meeting the SCECH criteria by the Kent Intermediate School District or the East Grand Rapids Superintendent agrees to allow SCECH credit for salary schedule advancement. NOTE: The staff member cannot receive both college credit (graduate or undergraduate) and SCECH credit. The additional increment step shall be granted on the appropriate schedule the semester following the filing of the proper documents indicating completion of the workshop or class. For salary schedule advancement thirty (30) SCECHs will be equivalent to one (1) semester hour of graduate credit.

(Participation in district in-service activities that are scheduled during what would normally be part of the school day is not eligible for CEU credit). b. Hours from different courses may be combined. c. Courses sponsored by the Hunterdon Central Regional High School District Academy or by the Delaware Township School District will be presumed to be acceptable for CEU credit. The Chief School Administrator will determine if a course may be taken for CEU credit outside of the academy or local school district. d. The teacher shall obtain proof of successful completion of the professional development course and submit to the Chief School Administrator. e. No more than 10 CEU credits will be recognized for movement to the B + 15, B + 20, B + 30, or B + 45/M columns. No more than 20 CEU credits will be recognized for movement to the M + 15, M + 20, M + 30, or M + 45, or M + 60 columns.
Continuing Education Credits. The Contractor will coordinate with the governing body; its services may include but are not limited to providing sign-in and sign-out sheets, tabulations of credits, and sending certificates to participants.
