Employee’s Birthday. The employee’s birthday which is presently a paid holiday may be celebrated on a date other than on which the birthday falls, subject to approval of the Department Head. Such alternative day shall be taken in the calendar year in which the birthday occurs. Failure to take the holiday within the calendar year shall result in forfeiture of the holiday.

If more than one employee requests the day off, resulting in a hardship on the Employer, the most senior employee will be granted the day-off.
Employee’s Birthday. In order to be eligible for this Holiday Pay, an employee must work on both his last scheduled workday immediately preceding such holiday observance and his next scheduled workday immediately following the holiday observance. For the purposes of this article, the term “work” shall include approved Sick Leave, Vacation Leave, and/or Compensatory Leave. If an employee is scheduled to work on a holiday observance and does not report for work, he shall not be entitled to Holiday Pay unless his absence is authorized and approved in accordance with the Sick Leave provisions contained elsewhere in this Agreement.
Employee’s Birthday. No employee shall be required to work on his/her birthday. Birthday holidays shall be observed only on the employee's birthday. However, with a minimum of five (5) working days notice, an employee may elect to convert his/her birthday holiday to a floating holiday which may be scheduled according to department/section scheduling at no additional cost to the District. Should an employee's birthday fall on his/her day off, he/she shall, at his/her option, receive an extra shift's pay at his/her existing straight time rate for that pay period, or an extra shift off with pay at the employee's existing straight time rate to be taken consistent with department/section scheduling. In any year other than a leap year, February 28 shall be considered the birthday holiday for any employee whose birthday is February 29. In the event an employee's birthday coincides with a contractual holiday, the employee shall, at his/her option, receive an extra shift's pay at the employee's existing straight time rate of pay during the pay period, or an extra shift off with pay at the existing straight time rate, to be taken consistent with department/section scheduling. The parties agree that if an employee does not elect to float his/her birthday holiday pursuant to this Section, the employee shall not be allowed to work on his/her birthday.
Employee’s Birthday. The employee’s birthday holiday may be used on the date of the employee’s birthday, or, with advance approval, at any time after his/her birthday (subject to the time limitations below). Employees will not be paid for unused birthday holidays. An employee must notify his/her supervisor when he/she would like to take his/her birthday holiday. This holiday is to be used within twelve (12) calendar months from the date it is granted.

Employee’s Birthday. Employees with seven (7) or more years of service will also have their birthdays observed. For such cases the employee shall have the option to request a day off with Birthday pay, or to work that day with Birthday pay in addition to the Employees straight time. Birthday pay shall be paid equal to the employee’s average hours of work and average rate of pay.
Employee’s Birthday. An employee is entitled to the observance of his/her birthday as a holiday. The holiday may be taken after or before the birthday only if work requirements of the department permit. However, the holiday must be taken within the two week pay- period of the employee’s birthday or it will be lost. When his/her birthday falls on another holiday to which he/she is entitled, or a regularly scheduled day off, the birthday holiday shall be observed, if possible, on the day immediately preceding or following the day of his/her birthday. If he/she is required to work on his/her birthday, the employee shall be given a substitute day off with pay at straight time on a day designated by the Department Head. Under no circumstances shall holiday pay be allowed for work performed on a birthday.
Employee’s Birthday. An Employee is entitled to a compensatory day only when that Employee's work schedule requires the Employee to work on one of the above stated holidays. Otherwise, all Employees not at work on one or more of the above stated holidays is said to be utilizing the compensatory day off on the holiday except when said holiday falls on the Employee's scheduled day off.
