Holiday Work Schedules. Employees shall normally be notified of holiday work schedules at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance, except in situations over which the Employer has no control.

Holiday Work Schedules. It is the intent of Management at each property to schedule the minimum crew required for necessary work to be performed on holidays.
Holiday Work Schedules. The arrangement of the holiday work schedules (December 15 to January 15) is governed by the efficient operation of the Home and the decision of the Employer as to the number of staff required to be on duty at any one time. Where the operational requirements of the home permits, the Employer will schedule each employee three (3) days off and will further endeavour to schedule a maximum of five (5) consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Year’s on an alternating basis from year to year. For those employees who have been granted time off at Christmas, the Employer will endeavour to provide Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and Boxing Day off. For those employees who have been granted time off at New Year’s, the Employer will endeavour to provide New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day and the second of January off. If the opportunity of taking both the holidays off occurs, it will be granted by seniority on a rotational basis. If the opportunity to take both holidays is offered but declined then the opportunity is waived until the next rotation may occur. In the event of conflict between employees, bargaining unit seniority shall be the decisive factor. Written requests for this time off must be received by the Director of Care by November 1st. Christmas and New Year’s time off shall be posted by November 15th. Regular scheduling may be waived from the 15th of December to the 15th of January in order to accommodate the employees during this period.

Employees on the fourth shift who are regularly scheduled to work on the actual Saturday/Sunday holiday shall receive eight (8) hours of holiday pay described below for the actual Saturday/Sunday holiday. Such fourth shift employees shall be assigned twelve (12) hour shifts on the Friday/Monday designated holiday, but shall receive only straight pay for those hours. Employees on the fourth shift shall be required to work only thirty-two (32) hours in addition to their eight (8) hours of holiday pay I Section 21.5 for a total compensation of forty (40) hours under these circumstances. I When the College is unable to obtain qualified outside people to work on the holidays, it shall have the right to temporarily assign employees, beginning with the least senior and rotating to the most senior in accordance with Section 21.4 (1) above to cover for employees who are absent. The College shall also have the right to temporarily assign employees pursuant to this Section to cover for employees who are absent due to illness, accident and/or vacations.

  • Holiday Work Employees who work on a holiday shall receive one and one-half (1-1/2) times their straight time regular rate of pay for all hours actually worked on the holiday, plus holiday pay.

  • Sunday Work Employees required to work overtime on Sundays shall be paid for a minimum of three hours work at double time. The double time is to be paid until the employee is relieved from duty.

The Employer retains the right to modify the work schedules to meet operational needs.

  • Holiday Scheduling Work assignments for holidays shall be prepared in advance of the holiday and when work is available, employees shall be given an opportunity to request to either work or be off. Such requests shall be granted to the extent possible in keeping with the operating needs of the work unit. When all requests cannot be granted within a classification and within a work unit, they shall be granted on a rotating basis so that each employee’s desires will be met as many times as is possible for each year, subject to Paragraph

  • Holidays Worked When an employee works on a calendar holiday, he/she shall receive payment of the holiday at the regular rate and in addition, at the discretion of the Employer, (1) be paid at the rate of time and one half for hours actually worked on the holiday or (2) be given compensatory time off equal to one and one half the number of hours actually worked.

  • Saturday Work A day worker required to work overtime on a Saturday shall be afforded at least four hours work or paid for four hours at the rate of time and one half for the first three hours and double time thereafter, except where the overtime is continuous with overtime commenced on the previous day.

  • Work Week The work week will begin at 12:00 a.m. on Sunday and end at 11:59 p.m. the following Saturday.
