Leave of Absence on Union Business. 7.01 Attendance at Union Functions Where operational requirements permit, and provided that the Employer will not incur extra expense, the Employer will grant leave without pay to a reasonable number of Employees at any one time to attend Union national executive meetings, congresses and conventions. Leave for this purpose shall be requested in writing as far in advance as possible prior to the date on which the leave is to commence, but not less than fifteen (15) calendar days in advance. Approval of such requests shall not be unreasonably withheld.

Leave of Absence on Union Business. The Company will grant leave absence without pay to Union officers so thy may attend Union meeting and conventions provided: a) A written request for leave is made three (3) weeks in advance to the Factory Controller b) Not more than one (1) Union Officer is absent at the same time from each branch office. c) The duration of the leave does not exceed five (5) days for each employee who is granted the leave of absence.
Leave of Absence on Union Business. 7.01 Elected Union Officials (a) With reasonable notice from the employee in writing that he/she has been elected to a full time office of the Union, NAV CANADA will grant leave with no loss of seniority to the employee for the term of the office. (b) An employee granted leave under clause (a) above shall continue to receive his/her regular salary and benefits for the period of leave granted, subject to the Union reimbursing NAV CANADA for all associated costs. (c) The period of leave granted shall be counted as continuous service for the purposes of calculating severance pay, vacation leave, and pay increments. (d) An employee granted leave under clause (a) shall have their unused sick leave, vacation leave and lieu leave credits frozen until they cease to hold such office. (e) Where an employee ceases to hold such office he/she shall be entitled to return to his or her former work unit at the same grade and level occupied prior to the leave of absence or, by mutual agreement, to a position at the same grade and level similar to that occupied prior to the leave of absence.

(a) Where representatives of the Union and/or witnesses, in the Employer's employ, are carrying out duties in respect to investigating complaints, resolving grievances, answering questions regarding the Union's newsletter or similar activities, for one (1) day or less, whether in their general work area or outside their general work area and involving travel, or where representatives of the Union are attending meetings of the Labour Management Committee, the Employer will not charge the Union for their salaries. (b) Where representatives of the Union are attending meetings of the Labour Management Committee which involve travel, the Employer will pay their travel expenses. (c) Policy regarding payment of salary, travel expenses, accommodation, meals, fees, etc., for representatives of the Union attending conferences, seminars, training programs, etc., will be determined on an ad hoc basis by the appropriate Vice- President or General Manager.

(d) For its representatives carrying out duties in respect to negotiations, arbitration, etc. and for all other activities of its representatives not specifically covered in 20.02 (a), (b) and (c) above, the Union will pay the applicable expenses for travel, accommodation, meals, fees, etc.; the Employer will pay their regular salaries and charge the amount back to the Union. The Union will remit payment in full of outstanding amounts within thirty (30) days of being billed by BC Transit. Failure to make payment within thirty (30) days will result in the Employer recovering such amounts from the monthly CUPE LOCAL 4500 membership dues. (e) Employees who are acting as full-time officers or representatives of the Union will be placed on leave of absence without pay, with the time involved considered as service with the Employer. The leave of absence will be reviewed every two (2) years. Benefits coverage will be as per Article 17.05.‌‌

  • Leave of Absence for Union Business 17.1 The Board acknowledges the right of the Union to appoint or select a Negotiation Committee of not more than seven (7) employees and will recognize and deal with this Committee with respect to contract negotiations. The Union agrees to provide the names of all Committee members to the Board in writing. 17.2 The Union may have the service of a CUPE Staff Representative, counsel or adviser at any meeting with representatives of the Board during negotiations pertaining to renewal or amendment of the Collective Agreement. 17.3 Members of the Union negotiating committee shall be paid at their regular straight time rate of pay for their regularly scheduled work time spent with officials of the Board for purposes of amending or renewing the Agreement up to and including, but not beyond the stage of conciliation, provided, however, that such committee members shall not be compensated for time spent prior to or beyond their regular working hours. 17.4 Upon request, members of the Union's Negotiating Committee shall be permitted leave of absence to prepare for the commencement of formal contract negotiations with the Board. The total number of days of leave under this Article 17.5 Leave of absence without pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority shall be granted upon request to the Board to employees elected or appointed to represent the Union at recognized Union conventions or conferences. In addition, up to twenty-five (25) days leave of absence per Agreement year shall be granted for local Union business, and such leave shall be without pay and without loss of sick leave credits or seniority. An employee on any of the foregoing leaves shall receive the pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. 17.6 An employee selected for up to and including a full-time position with the local shall be granted leave of absence without loss of seniority or benefits for a period of up to two (2) years. Such leave shall be renewed each year, on request, during the term of office. An employee on such leave shall receive the pay and benefits provided in this Agreement. The Union shall reimburse the Board for all pay and benefits for the period of absence. 17.7 Any employee who is elected or selected for a full-time position with the Union, or any body with which the Union is affiliated, upon application will be granted leave of absence without salary, benefits, and loss of seniority, by the Board for a period of up to one year. Such leave shall be extended annually, upon request, up to a maximum of five years.

  • Return from Leave of Absence (a) Before a Nurse may return to work from a leave granted under Article 9.00, she or he must provide a minimum of four (4) weeks written notice of the specific date of his or her return to work, or such shorter time as mutually agreed. (b) Upon return from an approved Unpaid Leave of Absence, a Nurse shall be reinstated to her or his former position unless the position has been discontinued, in which case the Nurse shall be appointed to an equivalent position. (c) This clause requiring four (4) weeks written notice, does not apply to other leaves granted by an express provision of this Collective Agreement with different requirements for written notice.

  • Personal Leave of Absence The Administrator may grant a request for leave of absence for personal reasons without pay provided that he receives at least one (1) month's clear notice, in writing, unless impossible, and provided that such leave may be arranged without undue inconvenience to the normal operations of the Nursing Home. Employees when applying for such leave shall indicate the proposed date of departure and return. Such leave shall not be unreasonably withheld.
