Length of Teaching Service i. The Teacher’s length of continuous employment with the School Division on a Teacher General Contract beginning with the first teaching day after one’s most recent day of hiring of continuous employment (i.e. no breaks in service) with the School Division. This does not include employment on a Limited Term Teacher Contract nor employment as a substitute Teacher. Approved leaves of absence shall not constitute a break in continuity of service.
ii. Where Teachers have the same length of continuous employment with the School Division as defined in i. above, the length of teaching service shall be determined on the basis of total continuous teaching experience (without a break in service) in the School Division if a Teacher previously had a Limited Term Teacher Contract before receiving a Teacher General Contract.
iii. Where Teachers have the same length of service as in i. and ii. the length of teaching experience shall be determined on the basis of total recognized teaching experience by the Department.
iv. If the total teaching experience in i., ii., iii. is equal, the Teacher to be laid off shall be determined by the Division.
Length of Teaching Service. The teacher’s length of continuous employment with the Board commencing with the first teaching day after one’s most recent day of hiring with the Board. Approved leaves of absence shall not constitute a break in continuity of service.
Length of Teaching Service. 1. Seniority for the purpose of this policy is defined to mean the length of continuous teaching experience from the date of last hire with the Division on a current Form 2 contract.
2. Where they have the same length of continuous teaching experience, the order of the seniority list shall be determined on the basis of total length of employment with the Division.
3. Where teachers have the same seniority as defined in (1) and (2), the order of seniority shall be determined on the basis of total recognized teaching experience in Manitoba.
4. Where teachers have the same seniority as defined in (1), (2) and (3), the order of seniority shall be determined on the basis of total teaching experience recognized by the Province of Manitoba for classification purposes.
5. If the length of teaching experience as defined in (1), (2), (3) and (4) is equal, the teacher to be declared surplus shall be determined by the Board.

4. Where teachers have the same seniority as defined in (1), (2) and (3), the order of seniority shall be determined on the basis of total teaching experience recognized by the Professional Certification Unit for classification purposes.
5. If the length of teaching experience as defined in (1), (2), (3) and (4) is equal, the teacher to be declared surplus shall be determined by the Division.
Length of Teaching Service. The teacher's length of continuous service with the Division commences the first teaching day after the most recent day of hiring with the Division. Approved leaves of absence up to two years of consecutive leave at any one time shall not constitute a break in continuity of service. Approved leaves of absence longer than two consecutive years shall result in that individual's retaining but not accruing credit for service. Leaves for compassionate reasons as may be mutually agreed upon by the Association and the Superintendent of Schools and leaves covered by Article shall not constitute a break in continuity of service. The "Length of Service" list shall be provided to the teachers and Association. Any teacher and/or the Association will be permitted thirty-five (35) teaching days to protest any omission or incorrect listing.

(2) Where the teachers have the same length of continuous full-time equivalent teaching experience, the order of the seniority list shall be determined on the basis of total length of employment with the Division.
(3) Where teachers have the same seniority as defined in (1) and (2), the order of seniority shall be determined on the basis of total recognized teaching experience in Manitoba.
(4) Where teachers have the same seniority as defined in (1), (2) and (3), the order of seniority shall be determined on the basis of total teaching experience recognized by the Province of Manitoba for classification purposes.
(5) If the length of teaching experience as defined in (1), (2), (3) and (4) is equal, the teacher to be declared surplus shall be determined by the Board.

If the length of teaching experience as defined in (I), and is equal, the teacher to be declared surplus shall be determined by the In the event of a lay-off, the Board shall meet with the Executive of the Association to discuss the implications of the lay-offs and shall provide the Association with a list of teachers to be laid-off. Notice of lay-off and a copy of this article shall be given to the teacher by registered mail no later than the first day of May of any school year. The teacher, within ten teaching days of receiving notice of lay-off, shall indicate, in writing of his/her wish to be placed on the list. Notwithstanding anything in this article, failure to respond within the time limit specified in this paragraph shall onus on the Division for that teacher’s placement on the list and the teacher shall lose seniority. If after lay-offs have occurred and for a period of one calendar year after the day of September following the date of lay-off, who have been laid-off and have given notice by registered mail under Article above shall be offered the position first as it becomes available, when positions become vacant provided such teachers have the necessary training, academic qualifications and experience for the positions available.
