Lunch Periods and Preparation Periods. 1. Middle and High school teachers shall be provided a 30 minute, duty-free lunch period and not less than one preparation period per day. The length of the preparation period shall be defined as the regular class period length in the school of assignment. Every effort will be made to ensure that teachers receive their allotted preparation time, however a preparation period cannot be guaranteed when exigencies occur such as school-wide testing, field days, etc. In the event that a preparation period must be eliminated because of a school-wide event, written notice or schedule of events will be provided to staff informing them of the upcoming change and the reason for such change. With regard to teacher preparation periods and approved department chairpersons periods, teachers shall not sell, trade or give away these periods where doing so would preclude a qualified teacher on layoff from being recalled for employment to fulfill instructional responsibilities for such a period(s). If qualified RIFd staff have not responded affirmatively within 15 days after an offer has been made by the Board to staff such a period(s), the Board may offer the period(s) to teachers willing to voluntarily fill these vacancies with reimbursement, or to qualified individuals who may or may not have been in the prior employment of the District. During the interim, while the Board is seeking a qualified assignee, current staff may be used to voluntarily fill, with reimbursement, these vacancies. 2. Elementary teachers, including kindergarten, traveling, and specialized teachers, shall be provided at least a 45 minute, duty-free lunch period and the equivalent of not less than a 30 minute preparation period per day of which no block of preparation time will be less than 15 consecutive minutes. Every effort will be made to ensure that teachers receive their allotted preparation time, however a preparation period cannot be guaranteed when exigencies occur such as school-wide testing, field days, etc. In the event that a preparation period must be eliminated because of a school-wide event, written notice or schedule of events will be provided to staff informing them of the upcoming change and the reason for such change. Lunch Periods and Preparation Periods. All full-time employees shall have a duty-free lunch period of no less than thirty (30) minutes and an unassigned preparation period of no less than fifty (50) minutes on regularly scheduled school days (not shortened schedule days). The duty-free lunch period and unassigned preparation period will be notated in the master schedule for all employees. The employer will attempt to schedule meetings or conferences which require the employee's attendance during the employees' preparation period.

Secondary teachers shall have a daily preparation period equal to a regularly scheduled class period and have a regularly scheduled duty-free lunch period of 35 minutes each day. 2. In the event that consensus does not occur, an additional meeting will be scheduled prior to June 30 and attendance by the Superintendent will be encouraged. If consensus still does not occur, another meeting will occur prior to July 15, and the Superintendent of Schools will attend. In the event that 40 minutes does not accommodate the schedule, each case will be addressed individually in a fair and appropriate manner. All preparation time will begin on the first day with students. 3. Prep Time Responsibilities. Types of responsibilities to be addressed during prep time: ● Parent CommunicationsProfessional Communications ● Subject preparation ● Assessments ● Preparation of materials ● Implementation of Core Standards 4. A bargaining unit member may, at their option, agree to supervise the lunchroom at a compensation rate of $18.00 per period or another classroom during their preparation period or duty-free lunch period at a compensation rate of $25.00 per period.

Lunch Periods and Preparation Periods. Full-time classroom Employees in grades Pre-K-5 shall be provided the equivalent of five (5) weekly thirty (30) minute preparation periods in addition to a thirty (30) minute duty- free lunch. Full-time employees in K-3 shall have one (1) daily thirty (30) minute recess. At no time shall a full- time classroom Employee be given more than one (1) day in one week without a planning period of at least thirty (30) consecutive minutes. Every reasonable effort shall be made to provide each Employee with a daily thirty (30) minute planning period. Each junior high Employee shall be scheduled for at least one teaching period per day to be used for planning, as well as a duty-free lunch as required by law. Each full-time Employee assigned to teach special subjects (e.g., art, music, P.E. etc.) shall be provided with an equivalent amount of preparation time (i.e., an equivalent number of minutes although not necessarily in equivalent time blocks) as full-time classroom Employees. The Board and Association recognize that planning time can be used for many purposes. Among the possible uses are individual planning and preparation, grading papers, lesson planning, copying materials, setting up labs, meetings with the principal, meetings with parents, and meetings with colleagues. Additionally, this time may be used for returning business phone calls, answering parent emails, co-planning for special needs children, planning for co-teaching, and staff development. While the above list is not intended to be exhaustive, it is provided to identify some of the uses that would be appropriate. While the Association recognizes that planning time cannot always be self-directed, Principals shall make reasonable efforts to avoid regularly scheduling meetings or other activities during a teacher’s planning time.

  • Preparation Periods 31-1 The School District agrees to maintain daily preparation periods during the student day in all junior and senior high schools. At schools where block scheduling is in effect, the total preparation time provided shall be equal to the preparation time provided at schools not operating on a block schedule. 31-2 The School District shall maintain at each elementary school a minimum of two hundred and fifty (250) minutes preparation time per week per teacher, during the students’ instructional day, in not less than forty- (40) minute blocks. Each elementary school shall be allocated and assigned library aide hours per school day in accordance with the following schedule: This aide time is provided in addition to the assigned media clerk time. Library aide time is guaranteed for the school year once set on a school year basis. There will be no changes in library aide time allocated due to fluctuation in enrollment. This provision for allocating library aide time will only remain as part of this Agreement if librarians are used to provide preparation time to elementary teachers. 31-3 Preparation time provided for in this Article shall be utilized by teachers in a manner which enables further development and refinement of professional skills and for instructional effectiveness. 31-4 Although it does not relate to any mandatory subject of bargaining, the School District states that it is its aim and objective to establish a maximum class load of thirty (30) students in grades 4, 5, and 6. 00-0 Xxx Xxxxxxxx may direct use of teacher preparation periods if such directed use is infrequent, advance notice is given and the District’s use of the teacher’s preparation period must not consume an entire period.

  • Lunch Periods All employees covered by this Agreement shall be entitled to an uninterrupted, duty-free lunch period after the employee has been on duty for five (5) hours. The length of time for such lunch period shall be for no less than one-half (½) hour, and shall be scheduled for full-time employees at about the midpoint of each work shift. Such times shall be mutually agreed upon between employees and their immediate supervisor.

  • Meal Periods (a) Meal periods shall be scheduled as close as possible to the middle of the scheduled hours of work. The length of the meal period shall be agreed to at the local level and shall be not less than 30 minutes nor more than 60 minutes. (b) An employee shall be entitled to take their meal period away from the workstation. Where this cannot be done, the meal period shall be considered as time worked.

  • Retention periods Documentation which serves as evidence of orderly and proper data processing must be retained by ATOSS in accordance with the applicable statutory retention periods beyond the end of the contract. To relieve itself of this obligation, ATOSS may turn said documentation over to the Customer at the end of the contract.

  • Vacation Periods Vacation schedules will be set by the employee’s immediate supervisor(s) and sent to the Office of Human Resources for approval. Employees may request a particular period for vacation. Vacation days may not be taken in advance of their accrual. Those employees who are on a 12-month teacher contract are paid during Spring Break and Winter Recess, however, are not expected to be in attendance or perform duties during those breaks.

  • Preparation Period During the preparation period, a teacher will have no other assignment except in an emergency situation. It is recognized that the preparation period is a scheduled part of the teacher's work day and the teacher is expected to be in his/her respective Building. If the teacher must leave the Building during his/her preparation and/or lunch period, he/she must notify the Building switchboard operator.

  • Renewal Periods Renewal of registered names may be made in one (1) year increments for up to a maximum of ten (10) years. For the avoidance of doubt, renewal of registered names may not extend their registration period beyond ten (10) years from the time of the renewal.
