Oral Step. Any employee, local union, or the Employer with a grievance (hereinafter called the "grievant"), shall discuss the grievance with the designated Employer Representative (or Local Union Business Representative) within ten (10) working days after the cause of the grievance is known or should reasonably have been known. The Employer shall designate to each local union the Employer's Representative(s) for the purpose of responding to grievances at this step. If the grievance is initiated by an employee, the Local Business Representative shall be present during the discussion.
Oral Step. Any employee, local union, or the Employer with a grievance (hereinafter called the “grievant”), shall discuss the griev- ance with the designated Employer Represen- tative (or Local Union Business Representa- tive) within ten (10) working days after the cause of the grievance is known or should rea- sonably have been known. The Employer shall designate to each local union the Employer’s Representative(s) for the purpose of respond- ing to grievances at this step. If the grievance is initiated by an employee, the Local Business Representative shall be present during the dis- cussion.
Oral Step. (a) An employee having a dispute concerning the interpretation or application of a specific term or provision of this Agreement may, within ten (10) days following the act or omission giving rise thereto, or the date on which the employee knew or reasonably should have known of such act or omission, whichever is later, file a grievance by presenting the grievance orally to the employee's faculty supervisor. At the time the grievance is filed, the grievant shall identify it as such.
(b) The faculty supervisor, and the college xxxx, if appropriate, shall discuss the grievance with the grievant and/or the grievant's representative, if any, and shall issue a decision within ten (10) days following the date the grievance is filed at the Oral Step.
Oral Step. An employee having a grievance or complaint may, after notice to his immediate supervisor, take it up with his department management or with the shop xxxxxxx who shall then take it up with department management and the aggrieved employee. The shop xxxxxxx shall be given an opportunity to be present at the adjustment of a grievance arising under the terms of this agreement which is presented to the department supervisor directly by an employee. If the grievance is not satisfactorily settled at the Oral Step, it must within five (5) working days, excluding Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, of the Company's designated representative's disposition be reduced to writing on the form provided. All grievances which affect the wages, hours, or working conditions of any employee shall, when reduced to writing in Written Step 1, be signed by that employee. The dispositions given at Written Steps 1, 2, and 3 of this procedure, together with the dates thereof, must be noted on the form and signed by the respective representatives of the Company and the Union. Grievance forms shall be obtainable from the department supervisor. When the grievance is reduced to writing, there must be set forth in the spaces provided all of the following:
Oral Step. (a) An employee having a grievance may, within ten (10) days following the occurrence of the event giving rise to the grievance, present the grievance orally to his or her immediate supervisor. The immediate supervisor shall make every effort to resolve the grievance at the Oral Step, including meeting to discuss the grievance if such meeting is requested by the employee or the employee’s representative or if a meeting is deemed necessary by the supervisor. The supervisor shall communicate a decision to the employee or the employee’s representative, if any, within five (5) days following the date the grievance is received at the Oral Step.
(b) If the grievance is not resolved by such informal discussion, the employee may, within five (5) days after receipt of the decision at the Oral Step, submit a formal grievance at Step 1 of this procedure.
(c) Failure to communicate the decision within the specified time limit shall permit the employee or the Union, where appropriate, to proceed to the next step.
(d) The number of days indicated at this step shall be considered as the maximum, and every effort will be made to expedite the process. However, the time limits specified may be extended in writing, in any specific instance, by mutual agreement up to an additional ten (10) days.
Oral Step. (a) An employee having a grievance may, within 15 days following the occurrence of the event giving rise to the grievance, initiate the grievance by presenting it orally to his or her immediate supervisor, stating the specific provision(s) of the Contract allegedly violated and the relief requested. In the alternative, an employee may file a Step 1 grievance as described in paragraph (2)(b) below. The immediate supervisor shall make every effort to resolve the grievance at the Oral Step, including meeting to discuss the grievance if such meeting is requested by the grievant or the grievant’s representative, or if a meeting is deemed necessary by the supervisor. The supervisor shall communicate a decision to the grievant and the grievant’s representative, if any, within 10 days following the date the grievance is received at the Oral Step.
(b) Failure to communicate the Oral Step decision within 10 days shall permit the grievant, the Union, or the grievant’s representative where appropriate, to proceed to the next step.
(c) Oral Step Documentation. If the grievance is not resolved at the Oral Step and the grievant chooses to submit the grievance for a Step 1 review under the provisions of paragraph (2)(a) below, the grievant is to document the following information, signed and dated by the grievant and submitted to the supervisor, and include it with the Step 1 grievance filing:
1. the event giving rise to the grievance and the date it occurred;
2. the date the Oral Step grievance was presented to the supervisor;
3. the date of the meeting with the supervisor if a meeting was held; and
4. the date the supervisor communicated his decision to the grievant.
Oral Step. An employee who believes he has a grievance must submit his complaint orally to his immediate supervisor within forty-eight (48) hours after the employee first had knowledge of the occurrence of the event upon which his complaint is based, or within forty-eight (48) hours of when facts were such that the employee reasonably should have had knowledge (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays excluded). The supervisor shall give the employee a verbal answer within twenty-four (24) hours (Saturdays, Sundays and holidays excluded) after the complaint has been submitted to him. In the event the complaint is not satisfactorily settled in this manner, it shall become a grievance and the following procedure shall apply: (Individual employees have the right to pursue a grievance at the oral step without inviting Association representation, in accordance with the terms of the labor mediation act, MCL 423.26. However, no settlement at the oral step will be inconsistent with the terms of the collective bargaining agreement; and the Association will be notified of all oral step settlements by the supervisor involved if the settlement was reached individually with an employee.)
Oral Step. If an Employee believes they have a problem in connection with their employment, they shall discuss it with their immediate supervisor.
Oral Step a. Any employee or group of employees who believe that any provision of this Agreement has not been properly applied or interpreted may orally present the grievance to their immediate supervisor (management) within seven (7) days of the occurrence that leads to the grievance. The supervisor shall give an oral decision to the employee(s) within twenty-four (24) hours of the discussion. Employees, at their request, will be accompanied by a representative of the Union at this step. Oral step decisions are non-precedential.
Oral Step. (b) The faculty supervisor, and the college xxxx, if appropriate, shall discuss the grievance with the grievant and/or the grievant's representative, if any, and shall issue a decision within ten (10) days following the date the grievance is filed at the Oral Step.
