STAFF COMMITTEE. Each school staff shall have the right to form a staff committee structure which promotes and facilitates a democratic, collegial process in school-based decision making.
STAFF COMMITTEE. There shall be established in each school, at the beginning of each school year, a Staff Committee. Such Committee shall operate without derogating from the duties and authority vested in the Principal/Vice-Principal pursuant to the School Act and School Act Regulations, Labour Relations Code and/or, subject to the provisions of the Collective Agreement, the policies of the Board.
STAFF COMMITTEE. 1. There shall be established in each school by September 30 of each school year, a Staff Committee. This committee shall operate without derogating from the duties and authority vested in the school’s administrative officers pursuant to the School Act and School Act Regulations, and shall not abrogate the provisions of the collective agreement or the policies of the Board.
2. The composition of the committee shall be determined by the teaching staff but shall include at least one administrative officer of the school. The committee may also include other than teaching staff members if the committee deems their inclusion appropriate.
3. The committee shall have the right to provide advice and/or recommendations to the administrative officers and to consider aspects of school operation, including the following:
a. School regulations, policies and routines.
b. School educational philosophy and policy.
c. Non-instructional days.
STAFF COMMITTEE. D.28.1. If desired by the majority of staff of a school, there may be established by September 30th of each year a staff committee:
a. the size and membership of the staff committee may be determined by the staff;
b. the staff committee may make suggestions in writing to the school administration;
c. should the school administration not act on a suggestion of the committee, the administration shall provide reasons in writing.

In addition to that, and to any other planning committee in the Hospital of a more broadly representational make-up, there be immediately established a Staff Committee for the bargaining unit, which shall meet during the term of this agreement every three months, unless otherwise mutually agreed by the parties. It shall be the of the Planning Committee to consider possible ways and means of avoiding or potential adverse effects upon employees in the bargaining unit including: and possible alternatives to any action that the hospital may propose taking; identifying and ways to address the retraining needs of employees; vacant positions within the Hospital for which surplus members of the bargaining unit might or such positions which are currently filled but which are expected to become vacant within a twelve (12) month period. The Committee shall be comprised of equal numbers of representatives of the hospital and the Union. The number of representatives is to be determined and shall consist of at least two representatives from each party. Meetings of the Committee shall be held during normal working hours. Representatives attending such meetings during their regularly-scheduled hours of work shall not lose regular earnings as a result of such attendance. The Hospital shall make typing and other such clerical assistance available as required. Each party shall appoint a co-chair for the Committee. STAFF COMMITTEE. 1. The employer and the union encourage and support functioning Staff Committees established for the purpose of thoughtful, professional collaboration on matters intended to enhance the working and learning environment of the school where they impact teachers in their role. The Staff Committee does not address matters of a personnel or individual nature or of the Collective Agreement, nor is it intended to derogate from the duties and responsibilities outlined by the BC School Act, BC Ministerial Orders and Regulations, or Board of Education policies.
2. The Staff Committee shall be established at each school at the beginning of each school year. The membership will reflect the needs of the school and its diversity and size and will include the principal, vice principal, where applicable, and three (3) to five (5) teachers selected by the teaching staff.
3. The Staff Committee shall meet outside of instructional hours regularly (e.g. monthly) or within seven (7) days of a request by either party to address specific and timely matters.
4. The Committee may determine its own procedures. Minutes of meetings shall be stored and shared with the teaching staff. Anyone may bring forth a topic for the Staff Committee to consider, which will be reflected in the minutes.
5. The Committee will make recommendations for actions on matters that affect the teaching staff of the school to enhance the working and learning environment of the school.
6. When the school principal requires further time to consider a matter, or when the recommendations cannot be implemented, the principal will provide their reasons either in writing or at a follow-up meeting. The rationale will be reflected in the minutes.
STAFF COMMITTEE. A committee made up of at least one (1) manager, one (1) Human Resources staff member, two (2) Aquatics staff members, and one (1) CUPE representative shall be established to provide feedback on employee issues related to the Letter of Understanding. The committee will meet at minimum two (2) times a year for one hour if there are agenda items provided one week in advance by any party. Times of the meeting will be arranged to coincide with the committee members' regular working schedules whenever possible. In any case, attendance at committee meetings will not incur overtime or result in payment of overtime to any other employees. Meetings may be unpaid if not within the committee members' regular working schedule. These are the only variances from the Collective Agreement; all other terms and conditions of the Collective Agreement apply. In exchange for the City of Kamloops not contracting out Lifeguards at this time, the Union agrees, on a without prejudice, without precedent basis, to the following:
1. All current Lifeguards (classified as "Lifeguard I") will be grand-parented and will receive all rights and privileges of the current Collective Agreement as amended from time to time, including all negotiated wage increases, and as modified by terms and conditions set out in this Letter of Understanding.
2. The wage rate will remain at Pay Grade 6 (Outside) for current Lifeguards, unless otherwise negotiated. Article 20 will not apply.
3. All current and new employees hired as a Lifeguard after the date of the signing of this Letter of Understanding will be classified as a "Lifeguard" and will be governed by the Collective Agreement as amended from time to time, and as modified by terms and conditions set out in this Letter of Understanding.
4. Lifeguards and Lifeguard Is will be treated as one classification for the purposes of on-call work and will be called in order of seniority.
5. Lifeguards will be paid at Pay Grade 1 (Outside) for the first 3,120 hours worked ("Introductory Period"). This rate is subject to all negotiated wage increases for that pay grade. Article 20 will not apply.
