(a) When the Employer temporarily assigns an employee to carry out the assigned responsibilities of a salaried employee outside of the bargaining unit for a period in excess of one-half (1/2) shift, the employee shall receive an allowance of eight dollars and fifty cents ($8.50) for each shift from the time of assignment. (b) Where a RN is absent from her normal shift, and the Employer temporarily assigns a RPN to carry out some additional responsibilities of the absent RN for a period in excess of one-half (1/2) shift, the employee shall receive an allowance of eight dollars and fifty cents ($8.50) for each shift. (c) Where there is neither a RN nor a Supervisory employee (or above), who is a Registered Nurse in the building and there is a RPN in the building, the above noted allowance will apply to a RPN who is designated to be in charge of the building.
(d) It is understood and agreed that only one of the above noted premiums will apply at any one time.
