Seniority - Part-Time Employees. In all cases of filling permanent job vacancies for part-time employees within a department or area, if applicable, and in all cases of layoff and recall of part-time employees within a department or area, if applicable, the criteria set out in paragraph 11.04 shall apply.
Seniority - Part-Time Employees. The seniority of a part-time employee who becomes full-time will be established, other than as detailed in Appendix “A” Article 11.02, on a pro-rated basis by dividing their total number of hours worked since their last date of hire as a part-time employee, by eight (8) hours which is equivalent to the normal number of hours in a work day exclusive of a meal period. Appendix “A” forms part of this collective agreement and defines the terms and conditions of employment for Part-time employees. The collective agreement, except as outlined in APPENDIX “A”, applies to Part-time employees.

A part-time employee shall be considered to be probationary without seniority until the employee has completed ninety calendar days of service with the Commission, and has passed a physical examination by a duly qualified medical examiner appointed by the Commission at the Commission’s expense, his name will be placed on the seniority list of part-time employees. If in the opinion of the Commission the employee is deemed qualified in less than ninety calendar days, under these circumstances the employee shall be notified and the probationary period thereby shortened which his name is placed on the seniority list of part-time employees. The employee’s seniority shall be back-dated to the date of his last hiring as a part-time employee. No grievances shall be submitted concerning the termination of employment or discipline of a probationary employee. This paragraph is subject to the provisions of paragraph and A till-time employee shall be deemed to have seniority over a part-time employee, regardless of their respective dates of hiring. When a part-time employee is hired to fill a Ml-time position, other than a temporary position, his seniority shall be back-dated to the date on which he became a full-time employee. Seniority - Part-Time Employees. Effective July 1, 1997, if a part-time employee becomes a full-time employee, without a break in continuous service, their seniority shall be computed from their last date of hire, as a part-time employee. The City and the Union agree that benefits and wages vary between full-time and part-time employees and there shall be no displacement rights between the two groups within this bargaining unit.
Seniority - Part-Time Employees. (a) Part-time Employees will accumulate seniority on the basis of hours paid in the bargaining unit from the last date of hire, except as provided herein. Seniority will operate on a bargaining unit wide basis.
(b) Effective August 5, 2009 an employee whose status is changed from full-time to part-time shall receive full credit for her/his seniority based on 1950 hours paid equals one year, and service based on fifteen hundred (1500) hours paid for each one (1) year of service provided that the full-time employee’s full-time position was within the equivalent full-time bargaining unit.
(c) Effective August 5, 2009 an employee whose status is changed from part- time to full-time shall receive credit for her/his seniority based on 1950 hours paid equals one year and service on the basis of one (1) year for each fifteen hundred (1500) hours paid, provided that the part-time employee’s part-time position was within the equivalent part-time bargaining unit.
(d) An Employee whose status changes from Full-time to Part-time, whose Full- time position was not within the equivalent Full-time bargaining unit, shall receive credit for service based on fifteen hundred (1500) hours paid for each one (1) year of service for the purpose of vacation entitlement, and shall not receive credit for the purposes of seniority or service for the purpose of wage progression. An Employee whose status is changed from Part-time to Full- time, whose position was not within the equivalent Part-time bargaining unit, shall receive credit for service for the purpose of vacation entitlement on the basis of one (1) year for each fifteen hundred (1500) hours paid, and shall not receive credit for the purposes of seniority, or service for the purpose of wage progression. The above-noted Employee shall be allowed a trial period of up to two hundred and twenty-five (225) hours during which the Hospital will determine if the Employee can satisfactorily perform the job. Within this period the Employee may voluntarily return, or be returned without loss of seniority to his former duties on the same shift in the same department and at the appropriate rate of pay, subject to any changes which would have occurred had she/he not transferred.
(e) Effective January 1, 2003 a part time Employee cannot accrue more than one year’s seniority in a calendar year. Effective August 5, 2009 one year equals1950 hours paid.
Seniority - Part-Time Employees. A. The Employer may hire part-time or casual employees for the sole purpose of vacation periods and absenteeism and shall not hold any seniority unless by a mutual agreement between the Union and Employer.
